1. Principal Investigators
Associate Professor Dr. Khaulah Sulaiman

Khaulah Sulaiman is a senior lecturer in Department of Physics, Faculty of Science, University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Her current research interests are organic semiconductor device physics, solution process-able organic semiconductor thin films, organic/metal interface and organic solar cells.


Dr. Azzuliani Supangat

Azzuliani Supangat is a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Physics, University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. She received her Bachelor in Science (Forestry) from the Universiti Putra Malaysia in 2002, Master in Applied Physics from Universiti Malaya in 2006 and her PhD in Physics from the University of Newcastle, Australia in 2012. Her research interests encompass the growth and properties of nano-structured materials based on semi-conducting polymers.

Saqib Rafique


Mr. Saqib Rafique completed his M.Sc in Microtechnology and Nanosciences from Chalmers University of Technology, Sweden. He has been working as a Lecturer at the Center of Nanotechnology, King Abdulaziz University, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia since December , 2011. His area of interest is mainly focused on fabrication and characterization of Micro/Nano materials and devices particularly for Optoelectronic, Sensing and Renewable Energy applications. He has Over 4 years hands-on experience on several Micro/Nano fabrication and characterization tools His research activities at UM are focused on Organic Electronics and its applications in Energy sector.


Karwan Wasman Qadir

Karwan Wasman Qadir was born in Dbis-Kerkuk, Kurdistan, Iraq in 1982. He did his B.Sc in Physic in 2005 and M.Sc in Solar Radiation Physics in 2010 from Salahaddin University, Erbil, Iraq.  His M.Sc research title was “Study and Analysis of Global Solar Radiation in Kurdistan Region-Iraq”.  He is working as a Assist Lecturer at Salahaddin University, Erbil, Iraq since 2010. Now he is proceeding towards his PhD under the supervision of Dr. Khaulah Sulaiman. 


  Muhammad Saipul Fakhir

Muhamad Saipul Fakir is currently registered as a PhD at Department of Physics, Faculty of Science, University of Malaya. He completed his B.Sc. and M.Sc. from the same university. His title for M.Sc. studies was Preparation and Characterization of Nickel ii) Phthalocyanine Tetrasulfonic Acid Tetrasodium Salt for Organic Solar Cells. His current research title is "Well-ordered nano-structures, interface morphology and charge carrier transport properties in organic electronics devices".


Khairus Syifa

Khairus Syifa Hamdan was born in Kedah, Malaysia in 1989. She completed her B.Sc in Physics from University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in 2012. Now she is pursuing her PhD degree from same university. Her current research  is related to the "Plasmonic Effect for the Improved Organic Solar Cells".


Nor Asmaliza Binti Bakar

Nor Asmaliza Binti Bakar was born in Kangar, Perlis Malaysia 1990. She received BSc degree from Department of Physics, Faculty of Science and Mathematics, Sultan Idris University of Education ,Perak, Malaysia in 2013. Currently she is registered as a PhD candidate at Department of Physics. Her research area is "Nanostructured Organic photovoltaic via template assisted method".

Lim Lih Wei was born in Kuantan, Pahang on 07 May 1984. He received his BSc degree of Science (major in Physics) from Department of Physics, Faculty of Science, University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in 2008. He has completed his Master degree under the supervision of Dr. Khaulah Sulaiman in 2012.  Now he is pursuing towards his PhD degree. His research topic is related to the charge transport in organic semiconductors.

2. Postdoctoral Research Fellows

Dr. Fakhra Aziz

Fakhra Aziz has joined Solar/Photovoltaic Materials Research Group at LDMRC as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow  in July, 2015.  She is currently working as an Assistant Professor at Department of Electronics, Jinnah College for Women, University of Peshawar, Pakistan. She has received her Ph.D. in Applied Physics (Organic Electronics) from Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technoloy, Pakistan in 2012. Her current research interests are organic sensors, solution process-able organic semiconductor  thin films, and organic solar cells.

Dr. Mansoor Ani Najeeb N

Mansoor Ani Najeeb joined Solar/Photovoltaic Materials Research Group as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow since October, 2014.  He completed his Ph.D in Biomedical Engineering  & Nanotechnology from Noorul Islam University (India). Prior to his Ph.D, he was working as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Biomedical Engineering, Noorul Islam University. He received his Bachelors in Physiotherapy from Calicut University (India) and M.Tech in Biomedical Engineering from VIT University (India). His current research interests are Organic Semiconductor based biosensors, Thin Films and Nano Biomaterials.


Dr. Qayyum Zafar

Dr. Qayyum Zafar joined Solar/Photovoltaic Materials Research Group as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow from October 2015. He was born in 1986 at Lahore-city, Pakistan. He graduated in Physics from Government College University (GCU), Lahore in 2008. He received his MS degree from Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute (GIKI), Swabi in 2011. He served as Research Associate at Nano sensors.catalysis lab at COMSATS Institute, Islamabad for one year. His PhD research topic was "Enhancing performance of Organic Electronic Devices by Systemetic Molecular and Interfacial Modifications for Improved Charge Carier Transport" which was done at Department of Physics, UM.


Dr.Shahino Mah Abdullah

Shahino Mah Abdullah completed his PhD degree and joined as post-doctoral fellow from January 2016. He was was born in Johor, Malaysia in 1987. He received his Bsc degree from Department of Physics, Faculty of Science, University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in  2011. His research area is organic electronics (solar cells and sensors).

4. Master Students

Fadilah Abd Wahab

Fadilah Abd Wahab was born in Perak, Malaysia. She got Bachelor degree in Applied Science (Physics Electronics & Instrumentations) from Faculty of Science and Technology, University of Malaysia Terengganu in August 2008. She worked in education department, telecommunication and automotive industry before joining University of Malaya. Currently, she is pursuing her master degree in physics at Faculty of Science, University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur. Her research area is graphene based photovoltaic cells.



Mohamad Izzat Azmer

Mohamad Izzat Azmer was born at Ipoh Perak in 1989. He did  his BSc. (Hons.) in Materials Technology in 2013 at Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM), Shah Alam, Selangor, Malaysia. Now he is working as a Research Assistant at Organic Electronics Research Group.

Muhammad Doris

Muhammad Doris was born in West-Sumatera, Indonesia. He finished his B.Sc in Physics (Materials Physics) from University of Indonesia in 2007. He has  joined as a Research Assistant at Organic Electronics Research Group since October 2014 in order to pursue his Master degree. His research topic is related to organic solar cells.

6. Alumni 

Dr. Teh Chin Hoong

Teh Chin Hoong was working as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Solar/Photovoltaic Materials Research Group, Department of Physics, University of Malaya from October 2013 to July 2015. He received his Bachelor and Master of Science in Materials Science from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia in 2005 and 2009, respectively. He later obtained his PhD in Chemistry from the Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia in 2013. His research interests are synthesis and characterization of conjugated oligomers and polymers for organic electronic applications.


Dr. Zurianti Abd. Rahman


Zurianti Abd. Rahman completed her PhD in May 2015. Currently she is a lecturer at University Technology MARA, Malaysia. She was born in Terengganu, Malaysia in 1972. She received her BSc degree from Faculty of Science, University of Putra Malaysia, Serdang, Malaysia in 1996 and her MSc degree from University Of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in 2007. 


Rupak Wasman Qadir

Rupak Wasman Qadir completed her M.Sc studies in March 2015. Her dissertation title : "Effect of metallic nanostructure's shape and size on the performance of organic solar cell: A simulation study" . She was born in Mamostayan, Erbil, Iraq in 1984. She competed her B.Sc in Physics from University of Salahaddin, Erbil, Iraq. She was working as a Physicist in Erbil Environment Directorate before joining University of Malaya.

Toong Way Yun

Toong Way Yun was born in Cameron Highlands, Pahang, Malaysia in 1985. She received her BSc degree of Science from Department of Physics, Faculty of Science, University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in 2008. In 2012, she finished her Master degree in Physics under the supervision of Dr. Khaulah Sulaiman. Her research title was “Fabrication and Characterization of Polymer Solar Cells"
