K-grams BookMARK involves some of the University of Michigan's most dedicated volunteers!
Weekly Sessions at the Elementary Schools allow students to volunteer on their own time: every week, every month, once a semester or even more sporadically. Sign-ups are online and listed by School/Session Time. Transportation is provided and all sessions meet at the CUBE by the Union before leaving. For more information email the Elementary Programming Directors (firstname.lastname@example.org) or email@example.com!
JUST WHAT IS A BookMARK SESSION? Check out some of the sessions that took place this past semester:
Above LEFT: BookMARK Coordinator, Chelsea Loji works with students of Mrs. Giachero's 5th grade class at Eberwhite Elementary. Above RIGHT: During "Hands-On Science Time," students made Insulators with special guests, the Michigan Pom-Pon Team!
LEFT: Fellow Eberwhite BookMARK Coordinator, Zachary Freidman poses with his group of 5th graders for the Insulator Session.
LEFT: Looking over the tables, we can see students completing their science projects with help by BookMARK volunteers.
The UM student group P.R.O.V.I.D.E.S. hosted a special BookMARK session where they came to Mrs. Giacherio's 5th grade classroom to talk about the culture of India!
The students got to play a game similiar to jacks!
They also had a blast playing a "Tag"-like game!
