K-grams plans and executes several programs in order to establish a strong community of learning for college and elementary age students, staff and families. We use these programs to develop positive relationships and experiences that extend beyond the classroom.
Check out our programs below!
The largest piece of K-grams, our pen pal program incorporates approximately 2,000 college and elementary pen pals. The pen pals exchange letters six times per year and are given several opportunities to meet at BookMARK sessions, classroom projects, K-day, and Kids' Fair. This is a great way for residents of the residence halls and members of the Greek System to get involved with the program.
Pen Pal signups for the 2010-2011 school year have ended but we strongly encourage you to apply to be put on the wait list. You can apply here!
In addition to our pen pal program, K-grams also runs weekly edu-active BookMARK sessions in 11 classrooms. Any member of the university community is welcome to sign up to participate in BookMARK sessions. All BookMARK sessions meet at the Cube at their designated start time and return to the Cube at their designated end time. Activities may include science time, math stations, or even recess.

Not only our BookMARK classrooms get to participate in our fun edu-active projects. All of the classrooms that participate in our pen pal program also get to participate in at least one classroom project per semester. Some past projects have included making place-mats for Mott's Children's Hospital, math bingo, and tye-dying t-shirts for Kids' Fair. Classroom projects are run by hall heads for each school. If you would like to know when the projects are for your classroom, email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
