World AIDS Day is December 1, 2011
We are looking for other organizations to co sponsor with us.

We are pleased to ask you to join us for World AIDS Day, presented by the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, Thursday December 1rd, 2011 from 10:00am – 4:00pm. Join us for a day of celebration and peer to peer networking at The Nyumburu Cultural Center at the University of Maryland, College Park, MD. Admission for this event is FREE, this will include a food, drinks, and giveaways.

Our mission is to accommodate 16 student organizations for this Event.

We are not charging for co sponsorship. We only ask that one student from your organization comes to the HIV informational workshop (TBA).

We have successfully organized this program in the past with Community Roots, Ethiopian Student Association, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., A Woman’s Worth, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Society of African American Studies, and the NAACP. We have also used community organizers such as TAYA health, the Prince George’s County Health Department, and the Women’s Collective. And, we thank them all for the help and support. This December, our partners include, the African American Health Program of Montgomery County and PEPSICO. The University Health Department has incorporated this program into the AIDS Awareness Week.

In support of the event, we ask that you promote through your website, email, social media, local publication, etc.  This is the MOST important way to make this event a success. Additional advertising will be done through SCLC and the Nyumburu Cultural Center (Our biggest supporter and sponsor).

Each student organization will receive a canvas board to decorate centered around one important fact about the HIV crisis, which their organization should sign.

There will be organizational meetings on November 6, 13, and the 20th. Please feel free to come and share your ideas with us!
