Welcome to UMaine's Land Drone 1 Capstone Site

About us

We are Land Drone 1, a team of Mechanical Engineering seniors from the University of

Maine. What started as a capstone design requirement has turned into the exciting

challenge of developing and building a fully autonomous land drone to patrol the

US/Canadian border. With some of the harshest conditions in the country, Maine is the

perfect place to prototype such a drone.  Numerous rivers, large rocks and roots, harsh

weather, and the horror that is mud season are all obstacles the drone will be able to tackle,

and all with GPS waypoint navigation. Furthermore, with the addition of video and audio,

the result is a drone able to aid the US government in the giant task that is watching the

3,987 mile border to our friend of the North.
