Welcome to the Ullapool Hillwalking Club.

We were only founded in the Spring of 2010 and are affiliated with the Mountaineering Council of Scotland.  Our current membership is around 20 and we attract members of all ages, backgrounds and abilities.  Our members experience varies from the beginner right through to the seasoned climber.

Despite our name we do not just walk on the hills although this is our main activity.  We have members that rock climb, scramble, ski, cycle, kayak....etc, so in general we might also be seen as an outdoor activity club.  The main emphasis is to have a friendly network of people that can use the Club to organise outdoor activity events.  We have a programme of oganised walks but also many adhoc events are added to this throughout the year.  Another emphasis for the Club is to promote the opportunity for members to enhance their hill skills and we will occassionally run courses on such topics like navigation and winter skills.

Membership :  Our current membership fee is £20 (£10 if joining after 30 September) and our Club year runs from 1 April - 31 March.  Some of the main                                   benefits included in membership are noted below.

  • Participation in all Club events.
  • Membership of The Mountaineering Council of Scotland which includes some of the benefits mentioned here.
  • A quarterly magazine called 'Scottish Mountaineer' (normally retails at £3.50).
  • Access to club huts throughout the UK.
  • Discounts at the MCofS shop.
  • Civil liability insurance.
  • Access to many discounted safety & training events, courses and lectures.
