Afternoon Vatavia!

The skill of Calontir’s artisans never ceases to amaze, and we are excited to see everyone’s entries in Queen’s Prize this weekend. Thank you to those who sponsored entrants and those who volunteered to judge.

As a thank you to Brian Hill and the wonderful staff of OJ Watson Park, we are hosting an Potluck during this week’s Fighter Practice. Everyone is welcome to attend, please bring a side to share and invite your friends out to join us for the day!

Join Musica Vatavia! Anyone with at least of modicum of musical experience is encouraged to join this growing and dynamic group. Rehearsals are held on Tuesday evenings. Please contact Lord Niall (artsandsciences@baronyofvatavia.org) for more information.

The Barony of Vatavia will be hosting an open Fighter Practice and Potluck after Queen’s Prize. As a thank you to Brian Hill and the wonderful staff of OJ Watson Park, Baron Uldin and Baroness will be grilling up hamburgers and hot dogs. Please bring a side to share. Our new Youth Marshal, Syr Wulfric Terrell, will be hosting a meet-and-greet discussion concerning Youth Combat in the Barony at this time. All interested youth combatants and their parents are invited to attend the discussion. Hope to see you there. Don’t forget to invite your friends!

For children to participate a youth combat wavier http://sca.org/officers/marshal/docs/minorcombatwaiver.pdf and a medical waiver http://sca.org/docs/pdf/treatminor-notary.pdf must be filled out and signed. The medical waiver must be notarized.

Don’t Forget

The Great Plains Renaissance Festival (http://www.greatplainsrenfest.com/) is September 23rd and 24th. Alongside Armored Combat and Cut and Thrust demos, we will running pop booths and also the archery booth in the dell for fundraising. If you will be fighting in Their Majesties crown tournament, Their Royal Majesties Damien & Issabell ask for letters of intent by the 20th of September. Ensure that your membership is current, and familiarize yourself with the Governing Documents of the Society and Kingdom Law so that you understand the rules and requirements for governing our great Kingdom.

(Even if you are not fighting in Crown Tourney, as a member of the SCA you should be aware of the Governing Documents of the Society and our Kingdom Law.)

There are many good folks in this Barony and Kingdom who are worthy of recognition. Please send award recommendations for all the wonderful stuff you saw folks do out in the Kingdom, or here at home. Do it now!
