Amolin. On the Study of Entomophagous Wasps (Hymenoptera: Scolioidea, Vespoidea, Sphecoidea) in Garden Holdings of Donetsk. Summary. An annotated list of entomophagous wasps in garden holdings in Donetsk (29 species of four families) is given. The positive role of some species of wasps in the regulation of pest populations is shown.

Putchkov A.V.  Review of the caraboid beetles (Coleoptera, Сaraboidea) of Ukraine. Summary. Review of Caraboidea of Ukraine fauna is given. About 750 species of 116 genera of three families (Rhysodidae, Cicindelidae, and Carabidae) are known to occur now in Ukraine. Distribution of species of superfamily in the main geographical regions of Ukraine is briefly analyzed. These are the Transcarpathian Lowland (with 325 species of the caraboid beetles); Carpathian Mountains (390 species); Right-Bank (Cis-Dnieper) Forest Zone (340 species); Left-Bank (Trans-Dnieper) Forest Zone (310 species); Deciduous Forest Zone (c.400 species); Western Wood-and-Steppe Zone (355 species); Wood-and-Steppe Zone (360 species); Northern Subzone of the Right-Bank (Cis-Dnieper) Steppe Zone (320 species); Northern Subzone of Left-Bank (Trans-Dnieper) Steppe Zone (340 species); Southern Subzone of Right-Bank (Cis-Dnieper) Steppe Zone (c. 300 species); Southern Subzone of Left-Bank (Trans-Dnieper) Steppe Zone (330 species); Sandy areas in lowlands of the Dnieper Basin (150 species); Steppe of Crimean Peninsula (300 species) and Crimean Mountains (290 species) with South-Eastern coastal beach (200 species). Distribution data on 80 species of 40 genera of Carabidae not recorded in the Catalogue of Palearctic Coleoptera (2003) but actually occuring in Ukraine are provided. Two taxa of the tiger-beetles and eight species of the ground-beetles of eight genera were recorded in the Catalogue of Palearctic Coleoptera (2003) from Ukraine erroneously. Possibility of occurrence of almost 50 other taxa of the Carabidae in Ukraine is discussed. The full check-list of Rhysodidae (2 species, 2 genera), Cicindelidae (17 species, 4 genera), and Carabidae (728 species, 110 genera) actually recorded in Ukraine are given (with distribution in main geographical regions of the country).

The bird nests acarofauna from some reservations on the Northern Black Sea of Ukraine. Didyk Yu. M. Summary. This work aimed to study the species composition of mites in the bird nests of the northern Black Sea coast of Ukraine (Nature Reserve “Dunayski Plavni” and Chernomorskyi Biosphere Nature Reserve). As the result of studies in 126 nests of six bird species are as follows. Most of the nidicolous parasites belong to the superorder Acariformes. Twenty-five species of mites of 19 families were found in birds nests. In the nests of Riparia riparia 13 species of mites are recorded: Dermanyssus gallinae, Haemogamasus pontiger, Neoseiulus agrestis, Neoseiulus conterminus, Haemolaelaps casalis, Platynothrus peltifer, Cheyletus eruditus, Pergamasus sp., Trichouropoda sp. and some undetermined species of the families Parasitidae, Sphaerochthoniidae, Camisiidae and Tydeidae. In the nests of Hirundo rustica, 12 species of mites are found: Dermanyssus gallinae; Haemogamasus pontiger; Cosmochthonius reticulates, Erythracarus parietinus, Tyroglyphus farinae, Acarus siro, Glycyphagus destructor, Cheyletus eruditus; Cunaxa setirostris and some undeterminated taxa of families Parasitidae, Laelaptidae and Tydeidae. In nests of Larus cachinnans collected 5 species of mites: Cosmochthonius reticulates, Erythracarus parietinus, Tyroglyphus sp., Acotyledon sp. and some taxa of family Tydeidae. In nests of Somateria mollissima 10 species of mites are registered: Ixodes ricinus, Dermanyssus gallinae, Haemogamasus pontiger, Haemolaelaps casalis, Platynothrus peltife, Trichouropoda sp. and some species of the families Parasitidae, Rhodacaridae, Cheyletidae and Tydeidae. In the nest of Sturnus vulgaris Cheyletus eruditus and one species of the family Tydeidae were found. In the nest of Motacilla alba 3 species of mites are registered: Platynothrus peltifer; Cosmochthonius reticulates and Erythracarus parietinus. Medical significance of some species of mites are disscussed shortly.

Spiders (Aranei) of Molochnyi Lagoon Coasts (Zaporizhzhia Region, Ukraine). Legotay M.V., Volovnik S.V., Evtushenko K.V. Summary. The species composition and distribution of the spiders living in coastal biotopes of Molochnyi Lagoon (Sea of Azov) were studied on the south part of Zaporizhzhia Region (Ukraine). As a whole, 72 species of 17 families were recorded (803 specimens). The species of the families Araneidae (19% of the total number of species), Salticidae (13%), Lycosidae (11%) and Thomisidae (11%) dominate. The largest number of species of spiders recorded in Altahir Forest (52 species), less on the coast of the Lagoon (23 species) and on Pidkova Island (19 species). The high species similarity noted for Altahir Forest and the coast of the Lagoon (K=0.38). Only three species (Oedothorax apicatus, Larinioides cornutus and L. sclopetarius) occur in all habitats. Distribution data on some ecological groups of spiders (inhabitants of herbage, trees and ground) in all biotopes are given and shortly discussed. Some species (Oxyopes lineatus, T. macellus, Heliophanus kochii) are recorded for the first time in the beach regions of the Sea of Azov.
