Our two eldest daughters were educated at home until they were aged twelve and nine, when they started school for the first time. Choosing to home educate was a positive decision, made because we wanted to enjoy the benefits that learning at home offers, rather than because we had any concerns about the local schools. We are expecting that our youngest daughter will stay home for the foreseeable future.

Our homeschooling was heavily influenced by the early 20th century English educator, Charlotte Mason. and as we are a Catholic family (mostly!) that has always added a special flavour. As we look to start the educational adventure again with our toddler, I have been thinking more about early learning and how to approach the preschool years.
