Proposals for multi-centre studies or audits can be forwarded to the BNTG lead by email who will facilitate presentation and discussion during the annual meeting.

This is a NIHR-funded randomised trial of primary decompressive craniectomy for head-injured patients with acute subdural haematomas. It is a collaborative effort of the British Neurosurgical Trainee Research Collaborative and the BNTG.

  • The aim is to have a trainee co-PI supporting the Consultant PI in every participating unit. The trainee co-PIs would be responsible for co-ordinating and promoting the study locally.
  • Trainee co-PIs are still needed in the following units: Aberdeen, Belfast, Charing Cross, Cork, Dublin, Dundee, Glasgow, Hull, and Romford. Any trainees from the above units interested in taking up this role should email angeloskolias {at}
  • All collaborating staff will be included as PubMed citable co-authors in all trial publications. The PIs/ co-PIs of the top 5 recruiting sites will be invited to join the writing group.

RESCUE-ASDH trial - UPDATE - September 2013

The RESCUE-ASDH will be a collaborative effort of the BNTG and the British Neurosurgical Trainee Research Collaborative. Proposal for establishment of the UK Cranial Reconstruction Registry

National CSDH audit - January 2013
