RESCUE-ASDH trial

This is a NIHR-funded randomised trial of primary decompressive craniectomy for head-injured patients with acute subdural haematomas. It is a collaborative effort of the British Neurosurgical Trainee Research Collaborative and the BNTG.

* The study is currently being rolled out across all UK neurosurgical units *

Trial website

  • The aim is to have a trainee co-PI supporting the Consultant PI in every participating unit. The trainee co-PIs would be responsible for co-ordinating and promoting the study locally.
  • Trainee co-PIs are still needed in the following units: Aberdeen, Belfast, Charing Cross, Cork, Dublin, Dundee, Glasgow, Hull, and Romford. Any trainees from the above units interested in taking up this role should email angeloskolias {at} gmail.com
  • All collaborating staff will be included as PubMed citable co-authors in all trial publications. The PIs/ co-PIs of the top 5 recruiting sites will be invited to join the writing group.

RESCUE-ASDH trial - UPDATE - September 2013

The RESCUE-ASDH will be a collaborative effort of the BNTG and the British Neurosurgical Trainee Research Collaborative. Proposal for establishment of the UK Cranial Reconstruction Registry

The BNTG and the British Neurosurgical Trainee Research Collaborative aim to establish a registry for cranioplasties undertaken across the UK and Ireland. National CSDH audit - January 2013

The British Neurosurgical Trainee Research Collaborative will soon launch a national Chronic Subdural Haematoma audit under the auspices of the UKNSRN and the SBNS. More information can be found here.
