The BNTG was formed in 2010 as a special interest group of the Society of British Neurological Surgeons which aims to promote research and education focused on neurotrauma (brain and spine).

The annual BNTG meeting is open to clinicians who are involved with the care of neurotrauma patients at any stage of the patient’s journey (pre-hospital, hospital, rehabilitation). Scientists and allied health professionals are also welcome.

The current BNTG chair is Mark Wilson, London, UK.

The inaugural BNTG chair was Peter Hutchinson, Cambridge, UK (2010-2015).

Mission Statement

The objectives of the BNTG are:

1. To further the development of neurotrauma in the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland

2. To encourage research and audit in neurotrauma

To hold meetings focused on education and research

4. To facilitate liaison with other groups involved in the management of neurotrauma

5. To foster relationships with other national and international neurotrauma organisations
