STUDENTS DUTIES & OBLIGATIONS (Philippine Law No. 232)
In addition to those provided for under existing laws, every student shall:
exert his utmost to develop his potentialities for service, particularly by undergoing an education suited to be abilities, in order that he may become an asset to his family and to society;
upload the academic integrity of the school, endeavor to achieve academic excellence and abide by the rules and regulations governing his academic responsibilities and moral integrity;
promote and maintain the peace and tranquility for the school by observing the rules and discipline, and by exerting efforts to attain harmonious relationships with fellow students, the teaching and academic staff and other school personnel;
participate actively in civic affairs and in the promotion of the general welfare, particularly in the social, economic and cultural development of this community and in the attainment of a just, compassionate and orderly society; and
exercise his rights responsibly in the knowledge that he is answerable for any infringement or violation of the public welfare and of the rights of others.
SCHOOL DISCIPLINE
A UIPS student is expected to behave in a manner that speaks well of his or her family and school. Towards this end, the UIPS formulates rules and regulations on student conduct before, during and after school hours. These rules and regulations promote peace and order inside the school campus and classroom towards maintaining and environment conducive to learning.
A. Committee on Discipline
The committee on discipline resolves reported serious cases and decides an appropriate action to an erring pupil/student. The Committee on Discipline composed of the following;

B. Procedure for Implementing Disciplinary Actions
Step 1: For Subject Teacher/Adviser
A Disciplinary Notice will be issued by the subject teacher/adviser to be signed by the student offender, adviser and the parent. The notice will be forwarded by the teacher/adviser to the Students Affairs Coordinator for documentation. Three(3) disciplinary notices means an issuance of Behavioral Report (BR). These minor offences include:
Failure to reply with the required clean haircut (2x3 inches for boys)
Not wearing the prescribed complete school uniform including ID during regular school days
Leaving the school campus without permission from the Guidance Counselor or Student Affairs Coordinator with final approval from the Principal
Coming to class without required material habitually
Running, shouting and other forms of distraction along corridors during class hours
Playing inside the school vicinity/bus during break or transition periods w/o supervision of the teacher
Coming to school with dyed or colored hair
Coming to school with make-up and or colored nail polish
Coming to school with temporary (henna) or permanent tattoo
Wearing earring for males and dangling for females
Wearing inappropriate (obscene) dress during classroom activities, school events, and non-uniform day. This includes cross-dressing for both males and females
Wearing accessories such as ring, bracelet, necklace, scarf, etc.
Hair curling and hair styling (gel or spray net) inside the school
Willful or deliberate non-participation in assemblies and school programs without proper permission from a teacher
Misbehavior inside the classroom, school vicinity/buses
Improper decorum during assemblies or other student's activities
Talking loudly, giving comments or remarks during class hour
Eating inside the classroom / school bus
Chewing bubble gum inside classroom, school vicinity/buses
Violation of the school rules and regulations
Failure to relay communications or to give circulars to parents/guardians
Saying indecent language and/or making bad signs
Teasing, such as name calling, to the extent of putting one in an embarrassing situation
Selling any items
Littering and or spitting inside the campus or individual
Loitering or cutting classes
Tardiness
Failure to present an excuse letter after several absences
Unauthorized posting or removal of posters and other public notices
Any offence related to above
Step 2: For Students Affairs Coordinator
Case will be directed to the Student Affairs Coordinator.
Comprehensive written report (Incident Report) will be filed by complainant.
The coordinator shall gather data and investigate the matter as reported by both parties before preparing a report to the Head of the Guidance Counseling Department or the Principal based on the investigation.
The parent will be notified for a conference.
The Disciplinary Board shall then discuss the matter in the presence of the parent and the student.
Disciplinary action will be given accordingly after the conference with the Disciplinary Board, parents, and students.
(Note: 3 Major BR will be ground for removal or exclusion from the roll.)
These major offenses include:
Possession of prohibited drugs;
Bringing of deadly weapons or explosive to school;
Fighting inside the school campus or its immediate vicinity or in any place where approved school activities are held;
Destroying or stealing of school property or the property of others;
Gross misconduct and disrespect to a person of authority while performing his functions and duties;
Gross misconduct and disrespect to fellow students especially the females;
Writing on the desks, tables, chairs, walls, lockers, including the walls and doors of the comfort room;
Cheating in any form;
Bullying or threatening a fellow student to prevent him/her from performing his/her duties and responsibilities;
Leaving the school campus without the approval of the principal;
Cyber-bullying to fellow students or to any constituents of the school. this includes posting or blogging defamatory words to any social networking sites;
Using the school logo without permit or authorization;
Falsification of school records/documents;
Forgery of the signature of a person in authority or parents in official communications;
Hazing/Fraternity/sorority;
Repetition of minor offenses;
Bringing of electronic gadget;
Smoking, gambling and extortion; and,
Any offense related to the above
(Note: Confiscated electronic gadgets will be returned to parents at the end of the academic year.)
C. Penalties: (Under the discretion of the Disciplinary Board)
Expulsion - a very serious sanction which bans the student from all schools upon recommendation of the Disciplinary Board and approved by DepEd and KHDA.
Suspension - a sanction which forbids attendance in regular classes upon approval of the Disciplinary Board and Administration after conference with the parents.
Withdrawal - means that a student will no longer study at UIPS upon recommendation of the adviser.
Denial of certain privileges.
Rendering of Community Services (number of days/hours will depend on the degree of the offense done).
Comprehensive written report attached to the Behavioral Report(BR) Form should be submitted to the Disciplinary Board.
Step 3: For the Guidance Counselor
After the sanction had been served and executed, a scheduled counselling session with the student offender is set.
Adviser and parent will be informed on the recommendations of the Guidance Counselor.
Follow-up counselling session with the student will be conducted as need arises.
The school principal will be informed on the details of the case.
D. School Attendance
Poor attendance and tardiness disrupt the education and hinder the progress of the students. Therefore they should be restricted to the minimum.
Punctuality is the timely conduct of any activity. Students should be in school before the morning assembly. They will be held at the car lift area if they come late and will only be allowed to get inside the classroom after the morning assembly. They are considered late and will log in the tardiness record sheet.
Students who incurred three tardiness will be given a Disciplinary Notice. Three (3) Accumulated Disciplinary Notices will be a ground for a disciplinary action and considered as one day absent.
Students who were given two major behavioral reports will be on a probationary period for the coming academic year.
Late comers beyond 8:00 A.M, must secure an admission slip from the Student Affairs Coordinator and present this to the teacher before entering the classroom.
A student who has been absent from the school must present the excuse letter duly signed by the parent prior to issuance of admission slip by the Student Affairs Coordinator.
Student returning to school after recovering from an illness must present a doctors certificate.
E. Travel Leave
As per Knowledge of Human Development Authority (KHDA) rules and regulations, a student can be absent for three days only in case of emergency like death of relative, sickness, accident and those who will personally take the admission test in the Philippine Universities/colleges. Students who plan to go on leave will not be granted advance examinations.
F. Re-Admission of Students
The student may be re-admitted taking into consideration the following rules:
Expulsion should not be for disciplinary reasons.
Deletion of name should not be for marriage reason and such matter is limited only for female students.
His/her age should not exceed the maximum age of admission.
Re-admission shall be made during the beginning of the academic year and at the end of enrollment as specified by the school
Procedures of re-admission shall be made by school administration upon the parents request on the from approved by the UAE Ministry of Education.
G. Removal & Exclusion of Students
WITHDRAWAL
If the student shall no longer continue/finish the school year, parents should submit a written notice to the Principal. (Note: The Registrar's Office needs at least 10-day processing period for school credentials).
DROPPED
A student will be dropped from the roll if he/she is absent from the school for 20 consecutive days or 25 non-consecutive days without valid reason within the academic year.
DISMISSAL
Intentional violation of the rules of the school is tantamount to disciplinary measures.
EXPULSION
The student shall be expelled for the following cases:
if he/she is being sentenced a final judgement for a crime or misdemeanor which is against honor and honesty and if he assails on the personnel working in the school.
if he/she commits deeds against honor and honesty or religious values inside the school.
If he/she deliberately damages school properties.
If he/she was given three Major BR with the approval of the School Disciplinary Board.
For Non-Disciplinary Reasons:
If the student is absent from the school for 20 consecutive days or 25-nonconsecutive days without valid reasons within the academic year.
If he exceeded age as per Article (37) the Bilo of the Private Education Law, Ministry of Education & Youth
H. Students on Probationary Status
Students who are considered on probationary are the following:
Transferees
Returnees
Those recommended by the School Assessment Team
Those recommended by the Office of Guidance and Counselling Department approved by the School Administrators.
Students who are on probation are being closely monitored and should abide by the school rules and policies; otherwise, they shall be candidates for expulsion subject to the assessment of the Disciplinary Board.
I. Good Grooming
A UIPSian is expected to practice good personal hygiene and grooming.
BOYS
Boys should be neat at all times with authorized clean hair cut/style(2x3).
Sporting colored hair of full-shaven head is not allowed.
Hair cut inspection will be conducted regularly. Earrings or any accessories are prohibited.
Colored nail polish and temporary/permanent tattoo and henna is prohibited
Leather black shoes with white socks must be worn with the prescribed uniform.
GIRLS
Girls should be strictly keep their hair tied(black and white pony tail only)
Dyed, colored or high-lighted hair is not allowed.
Closed leather black shoes with white socks must be worn with the prescribed uniform.
High-heeled shoes, colored nail polished and temporary/permanent tattoo or henna are strictly prohibited
Dangling earrings and excessive fashion accessories are not allowed.
Eye-liner, mascara and make-up are not allowed.
J. Prescribed School Uniform
The school uniforms identifies the students of UIPSians. It must be worn with dignity and pride. The prescribed uniform are:
K. P.E. UNIFORM
The Physical Education (PE) uniform with black or white rubber shoes with white socks must be worn on P.E. days according to the school time table. Thus, students are not allowed to bring and wear other shirt aside from the prescribed uniform.
L. SCHOOL ID
Students are required to com to school wearing the school ID at all times with its official school strap. Students who lost their ID should apply for a new ID. A temporary ID will be issued by the Office of Guidance & Counseling upon presenting the official receipt for ID application.
CHILD PROTECTION POLICY
DECLARATION OF POLICY
Consistent to our mission and in compliance with the KHDA's policy on child protection and support, UIPS is responsible for the care, protection, safety and welfare of its clientele, the students. We are duty-bound to provide our students a safe and child-friendly atmosphere that will develop their confidence, talents and abilities within the bounds of the school's multicultural environment.
UIPS ensures that the school is conducive to the education of the children. The best interest of the child shall be the topmost consideration in all decisions and actions involving children. Teachers are their substitute parents and are expected to discharge their functions and duties with this same interest in mind.
UIPS promulgates a Zero Tolerance Policy for any act of child abuse, exploitation, violence, discrimination, bullying and other forms of abuse through diplomatic procedures.
GOAL
Effectively implement the Zero Tolerance Policy for any act of child abuse, exploitation, violence, discrimination, bullying and other forms of abuse through diplomatic procedures.
DEFINITION OF TERMS USED
In order to implement this policy effectively, the following terms are defined for reference:
Child Protection refers to activity which is undertaken to protect specific children who are suffering or at risk of suffering significant harm.
Violence against children refers to a single act or series of acts committed by the school administrator/s, academic and non-academic personnel against child which result in or is likely to result in physical, sexual, psychological harm, threats of such acts, battery, assault, coercion, harassment or arbitrary deprivation of liberty. It includes the following acts:
Physical violence - involves hitting, shaking, throwing, poisoning, burning, drowning, suffocating.
Sexual Violence - involves forcing or enticing a child or young person to take part in sexual activities, not necessarily a high level of violence, whether or not a child is aware of what is happening.
Psychological violence - is persistent emotional maltreatment of a child that causes severe and persistent adverse effects on the child's emotional development.
Neglect - is the persistent failure to meet a child's basic physical and/ or psychological needs, likely to result in the serious impairment of the child's emotional development.
Other acts of violence such as:
Bullying refers to a willful aggressive behavior that is directed towards a particular victim who may be out-numbered, younger, weak, with disability, less confident, or other wise vulnerable, more particularly bullying and cyber-bullying.
DEFINITION OF TERMS
Child Protection Team - a specialized group of professionals or individuals created to help identify, investigate and prevent cases of child abuse/maltreatment/violence and neglect.
Reporting Procedure a protocol of identifying a victim of violence/abuse/maltreatment and neglect. They are involve in a establishing and gathering evidences, recording of facts of the case and giving information of the case to the authorities.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE SCHOOL
Ensures the institution of effective child protection policies and procedures and monitor compliance thereof;
Ensures that the school adopts a child protection policy, organize and convene Child Protection Team(CPT);
Conducts the capacity building activities for the members of the CPT and teachers;
Ensures that the participatory and other rights of children are respected and upheld in all matters and procedures affecting their welfare; and
Coordinates with appropriate offices and other agency or institution for appropriate intervention, as may be required in the performance of its functions.

FUNCTIONS OF THE CHILD PROTECTION TEAM(CPT):
Initiates information dissemination programs and organize activities for the protection of children;
Establishes a system for identifying students who may be suffering from significant harm based on any physical, emotional or behavioral signs;
Monitors the implementation of positive measures and effective procedures in providing the necessary support for the child and for those who care for the child;
Ensures that the children's right to be heard are respected and upheld in all matters and procedures affecting their welfare;
Ensures that students and staffs are aware of the school's CPT;
Disseminates information/guidelines on the role and responsibilities of the CPT through but not limited to schools' newsletter/bulletins and advisories for parents and staff;
Keeps written records (cases filed, action taken, etc.) of cases for future references and following up of cases; and
Makes follow-up on reported cases.
REPORTING PROCESS
Any concerned individual prepares a written report on the suspected case of abuse/maltreatment/violence or neglect and sends the same to the CPT through the Principal.
The victim will be assessed immediately by the CPT Chairperson. An investigation will be conducted by the CPT on the foregoing complaint.
The principal will immediately convene the CPT to determine the appropriate action on the report.
PROCEDURES IN HANDLING STUDENTS UNDER CHILD PROTECTION CASE
After a case has been reported, the CPT will conduct a speedy investigation.
Complainant shall forward the written complaint immediately to the CPT, who shall issue an order for the conduct of a fact-finding investigation upon submission of the complaint.
If the person complained of is a non-teaching personnel, criminal and civil liability shall not be a bar to the filing of an administrative case against him.
The Rules of Procedure for Employees in Administrative case shall apply in all other aspects.
The identity or other information that may reasonably identify the pupil or student shall remain confidential.
The identity of a respondent shall likewise be kept confidential.
PREVENTIVE MEASURES
The school shall implement effective strategies to prevent unwanted cases against the students. One of these is to raise the awareness of the teachers and school administrators about the Child Protection Policy and other related concerns that will safeguard the welfare of the students through conducting seminars and training's on the following:
