Alpha Delta, Pre-Law will hold elections on Thursday, March 31, 2011 for the 5
elected officer positions for 2011-2012: President, Vice President, Secretary,
Treasurer, and Director of Communications.
TO VOTE: As our constitution states, a member must be
in good standing to vote. Dues for the semester must have been paid in full by
the time of the election. Please contact Rachel at firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any questions or concerns about
your standing as a member.
TO RUN FOR OFFICE: Those considering running for office must be
a member in good standing (as stated above), and must also have acquired a
certain number of PAD points throughout the 2010-2011 school year. You must
notify the Executive Board of your decision to run by filling out the
appropriate form, which is available online. THIS FORM IS DUE NO LATER
MARCH 17 th Tuesday 3/22/2011. Our Secretary will then check our records to
see if you meet the points requirement; you may also check at https://sites.google.com/site/uhpadprelaw/current-members/pad-points. If you fail to meet the point requirement
for any reason, you may appeal.
TO APPEAL: If you do not meet the points requirements, you may either:
a.) fill out the Appeals Form provided at the end of the Intent to Run form (above), just in case
b.) fill out the same form upon notification from the Secretary, which will be sent out by March 24th. You will than have 2 days to complete the appeals form.
is a list of all the positions, their descriptions, and their respective point
requirements to run. We encourage all eligible members to run for office. It is
a rewarding experience and helpful for resumes. It is also a good way to
network and get to know your fellow brothers and sisters. However, we ask all
of those who consider running to please take the decision seriously, as being
an officer is a lot of hard work and very time consuming.
President (200) - The President is the chief executive and
administrative officer of the Chapter. The President is responsible for the
welfare and dignity of the Chapter. The President is responsible, along with
the other Chapter officers, for ensuring that the Chapter follows all
Fraternity policies including the Pre-Law financial, open membership, drug and
alcohol and anti-hazing policies.
President (175) - The Vice President shall work with
the President in the performance of such Chapter duties as may be requested by
the President. The Vice President is the public relations and historical
officer of the Chapter, and currently oversees Community Service opportunities
for the organization.
Secretary (150) - The Secretary is the chief recorder and correspondent of this Chapter. The
Secretary shall keep complete record of all matters pertaining to this Chapter
and shall certify thereto when necessary. He/she is responsible for keeping up
with member's points, induction paperwork, and minutes. Currently, the
Secretary also oversees social events for the members, such as retreats,
outings, and our Annual Banquet.
(150) - The Treasurer is the chief financial
officer of this chapter and is responsible, along with the other chapter
officers, for ensuring the chapter follows the fraternity’s pre-law financial
policies. The Treasurer is in charge of all chapter funds and collection and disbursement
In doing so, the treasurer is responsible for planning and executing
fundraising events for the chapter. Typical duties include (but are not limited
to) purchases, reimbursements, writing receipts, distributing shirts/other
merchandise, budgeting and keeping track of spending by event, keeping track of
dues/payment plans, and booking, planning, and attending fundraising events
with the Finance Committee Co-Chair.
of Communications (150) - The Director
of Communications (DOC) is the chief communication liaison between the chapter,
members, prospective members, and school advisors. He/she is responsible for
finding meeting locations for all general meetings, creating a semesterly
meeting schedule with engaging topics for the members, and finding speakers for
those topics while executing any other necessary duties to make the meetings
successful. It is the responsibility of the DOC to promote each event hosted by
this chapter using emails, the chapter website, fliers, banners, social
networking sites, etc. The DOC will also be responsible for updating the
following: the official chapter website & domain, campus distribution
lists, social networking sites, and our monthly publication The Gavel. The DOC also is the chief
officer overseeing the planning and executing of Annual Pre-Law Day.
