The 2012 Minority Mentor Lecture Series: Dr. Scott Brooks

posted Mar 6, 2012, 4:43 PM by Sociology Criminal Justice
I am pleased to announce that once again, our department is hosting its annual Minority Mentor Lecture Series next month!

The department has invited Dr. Scott Brooks, an Associate Professor of Sociology and an urban ethnographer from the University of California - Riverside.  He will deliver a public lecture on Thursday April 19th, at 3:30pm in Gore 116, and conduct an informal workshop open to all graduate students on April 20th, from 10:30am-noon in Purnell 331.

The Series was established to showcase minority scholarship, serve as a professional development and mentorship outlet for underrepresented graduate students, and foster a more enhanced sense of community.  Everyone in or affiliated with the department (faculty, graduate and undergraduate students, research center staff, etc.) is invited, along with anyone else who is interested in Dr. Brooks's research or the spirit of the event.  More information will be offered in the coming weeks and you may refer to the attached announcement for more details about the lecture topic.
