¡Hola and bienvenidos to the UCSF School of Pharmacy!

The Latino Association of Pharmacy Students (LAPS) is a culturally diverse group of students devoted to providing health care services, education and outreach to under-served communities. Our main focus is to provide valuable health education and services, especially in the pharmacy setting to the Latino communities in the San Francisco and Bay area. LAPS also strives to teach students about the Spanish language and the culture behind it, so that we may interact more effectively with the populations we serve.

The U.S. Census projects that the Hispanic population will be the second fastest-growing population in the United States over the next 30 years. What does that mean for us as America’s future pharmacists? The face of pharmacy care is changing, and, as it changes, it will become increasingly vital to have an understanding of the Spanish language and culture. LAPS is here to help you develop that understanding and bring it alive for you!

The entire LAPS familia invites you to take part in our events this year. Brush up on or learn some Spanish at our conversation lunches and apply this Spanish at health fairs and other pharmacy settings. If you already speak Spanish, we encourage you to assist us in providing much-needed interpreting services at our health fairs. Learn more about the rich Latino culture at our exciting cultural events.

We encourage you to explore this website to explore upcoming events and learn more about LAPS!
