About Us

The Jacobs Graduate Student Council (JGSC) is the representative student body of Jacobs School of Engineering at UC San Diego. We represent 2600 graduate students and 6 departments in the Jacobs School of Engineering.

Our mission is to improve our school’s reputation as #1 Engineering School in the country by providing our grads the opportunities they need for success in their academic and professional life. Our objectives are:

  • Facilitate communication and collaboration between our students, administration and industries.
  • Provide social and professional networking opportunities for graduate students in Jacobs School.
  • Promote a sense of identification with and participation in the community of Jacobs graduate students to
    enhance the overall Jacobs experience.

What We Do

We are a group of Jacobs graduate students dedicated to improving our school in a number of ways. We believe that investing in the graduate program translates into a stronger department which benefits both students and faculty. Our responsibilities include:

  1. Representing Jacobs engineering school at UCSD.
  2. Organizing social events for graduate students.
  3. Hosting professional development and networking events.
  4. Promoting research awareness within and outside of our department.
  5. Advocating for the welfare, needs and concerns of the graduate student.

 San Diego EXPO Day
  • Engage the minds of thousands of middle school and high school students
  • San Diego STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) Science Festival
  • Science demonstration and exhibition
Goal: do demonstration to kids to promote their interest in science and engineering

The Jacobs Undergraduate Mentoring Program is a community of engineering students (both undergraduate and graduate) and alumni, who provide support, advice, guidance, and experience to all members.
