What Judy appreciates most about this church is the atmosphere of questioning and learning and its commitment to missions and outreach. It is truly a family where people are supported and celebrated.

Timothy Jaqua Pianist & Organist

UCoL Pianist/organist and accompanist for choir since the early 2000s. Tim retired as a critical care nurse after thirty years in the profession, including 13 years in New York City at a very large teaching hospital. Tim moved to VT in 1992 and joined UCOL in September of 2003.

Tim received his gift of music from his mother, Carolyn, and God. Music has been a focal point of his life with Tim beginning to play piano at the age of 7. At the age of 11 he played in a production of “Oklahoma” and the music director declared “Tim’s the only one who can play the score!” At this same time, he became the organist at his home church in Ohio. This led Tim to begin seriously studying piano at age 14 while attending the School of Music in Pottsdam, NY with Dolores Johnson PhD (college level). He also studied jazz piano and transposition with Meryl Smith – a jazz composer and bassist in NYC. Tim racked up over 10 years of classical piano training during this period. He would go on to graduate from Kent State University in 1979 with a BSN (Nursing) and attended graduate school for 2 years at Hunter College in NYC where he enrolled in a Master’s Degree program as a psychiatric nurse practitioner. However, it was opportunities like vocal coaching, rehearsal pianist, offering private lessons, cabaret acts accompanying vocalists, and recording session pianist that saw Tim split his time as that of nurse and muscian.
