The Large-Scale Systems Group (LSSG) studies critical systems research questions underlying robust, scalable large-scale systems which pervade the internet, high performance, and enterprise computing. Future global-scale information systems have billions of elements, exabytes of data, and endemic impact on social, consumer, commercial, and scientific applications of unprecedented scale. Achieving this extraordinary scale poses difficult design challenges at the level of systems, architecture, networking, and programming. Specific interests include programming abstractions, system software and networking, architecture, and applications. LSSG is led by Prof. Andrew A Chien.
