The League Begins!

Dear League members,

The Hastings Intramural Basketball League will begin this week.  I would like to remind all members that to fund prizes for the playoffs, the league will charge a $20 team fee which works out to roughly $2 per player.  By now, all captains should have the schedule and be in communication with you, but you may look at to find out when you'll be playing Monday mornings. Every time slot ideally allows for 15 minutes of warm-up (Ex: 8:15 PM start time, allows you to warm-up at exactly 8:00PM unless an IM game goes to OT).

Before games start, I'd like to emphasize a few points below.

Rules and Conduct
Every team member is expected to know the league rules, with the most important take-away is to play with integrity and respect for one another.  All members are asked to comply with the rules as penalties such as suspension and expulsion for ungentlemanly and unladylike conduct do exist.  Also allow other sports clubs to finish before entering.  You may view the complete rules here,

Joining Our E-mail Pick-Up List
If anyone has interest in being e-mailed about basketball pick-up.  The e-mails there will be more frequent and your e-mail will be made public, but it is the best way to stay up-to-date on open pick-up games.  You may wish to filter these messages if the notifications bother you.  I will make attempts to post court availability and open pick-ups on our facebook group page,

Baskeball Tournament
As you begin to play against one another, please be on the look out for people you would want to pair up with in a 3-on-3 basketball tournament.  It'll be held sometime in late October or early November.

Free Agents without a team may contact multiple team captains to audition and inquire on space.  Captains may also contract a Free Agent(s) for one game, in the event that you are low on numbers a given week, but you must notify the League and Opposing Captain and make a decision on whether to retain the player after the game.  Once a Free Agent is converted to a team, other teams can no longer contract their services.
