Scientific Computing, Applied and Industrial Mathematics (SCAIM) Seminar Series

The Scientific Computing, Applied and Industrial Mathematics (SCAIM) Seminar is an interdepartmental seminar at the University of British Columbia (UBC) focused on research in scientific computing, industrial and applied mathematics, mathematical modelling, and computational science. The audience for the talks are typically faculty members and graduate students from the departments of Computer Science, Earth, Ocean and Atmospheric Sciences, Mathematics, Mechanical Engineering, and Physics & Astronomy.  The speakers are researchers from UBC or other institutions.

SCAIM seminars aim to foster collaborative research on topics related to the seminar. They provide a forum for strengthening connections between departments at UBC, and between UBC and other research institutions.

The one-hour talks happen at lunch time.  Thanks to our sponsors, the UBC Institute of Applied Mathematics and the Pacific Institute for the Mathematical Sciences, we are able to provide a pizza or sushi lunch during the seminar and bring in speakers from outside UBC.
