Welcome to Ballymena U3A.

We welcome new members; if you are interested please come along to one of our general meetings and see if U3A is for you. Our general meetings are normally held on the first Thursday of the month at 10.30 am; you can find the date of our next meeting in our Calendar. The meetings are held in the ECOS Centre Ballymena.

At 10.30 there will be tea/coffee, followed by a speaker at 11.00 and then a short meeting to arrange trips and other activities.

The U3A works mainly through small interest groups, so check the list of groups to see what you might enjoy (click groups and then each title for more details). If your special interest is not included please come along and find other people with similar interests to your own. For more information e-mail u3abmena@gmail.com  If you wish to speak to someone on the phone please e-mail your phone number and we will contact you.

What is U3A?

U3A stands for University of the Third Age. It is a co-operative of older people which enables members to share educational, creative and leisure activities. Anyone in the Third Age can join the U3A provided they are no longer in full time employment. The U3A does not require (or award) any qualifications; it exists solely to provide enjoyment and interesting activities for its members. There are currently over 900 U3As in the UK with over 300,000 members; around 5000 of whom are in 21 groups in Northern Ireland.

What can you do?

You can join as many groups as you like or just come to the monthly talks. The  activity groups are held in locations around Ballymena; a list of current groups can be found by following this link.
