NW Jamboree info

posted Mar 5, 2012, 8:50 AM by Strike Force Volleyball Club

Hello
Attached is some info on this upcoming weekend's tourney in Yakima.
Peggy would like the girls at they gym by 7:00 a.m.

(We are listed as U-14 White)

We are playing at Gilbert Elementary
410 N 44th ave
Yakima, Wa

You can also find more info at

BASIC GYM RULES

No electric croc pots, cookers, coffee makers, etc. allowed at any of the playing sites.  No pets allowed at any site.  Only water (and that means no coffee) allowed in any gym area.

Please be respectful of other teams’ needs with regard to space for your Team Area at your play facility.

PLAY FORMAT

Two rounds of pool play followed by single-elimination playoffs.   All teams will play a full Pool 1 on Saturday starting at 8 a.m., followed by two rounds of Pool 2.  Sunday’s play will also begin at 8 a.m. and will consist of the conclusion of Pool 2 play followed by the bracket play. Most divisions should finish by 5 p.m. on Sunday.  Any 3-team pool will play three games of five.

All teams will play two pools prior to beginning playoff brackets.  In the U-14 and U-16 Divisions, teams will be seeded into Power and Challenge Divisions.  This will allow all teams to compete at the appropriate level for their team and avoids the unrewarding mismatches that inevitably occur when stronger more experienced teams match up with less seasoned teams in the early round of the tournament.  The U-12 and U-18 Divisions will not be divided initially but will undoubtedly stratify after the first pool.

The Northwest Jamboree is the major inter-regional competition of  the season, bringing together the top teams from the three USAV Regions that span Washington, Oregon, Northern Idaho and Montana.  At times in past years the Jamboree has also had entries from California and the Canadian provinces of British Columbia, Alberta and Saskatchewan.  It is the largest tournament of the year hosted by Team Yakima .

  • Fundraising Opportunity!!

Strike Force has an opportunity to do a fundraiser on December 23, 2011 at Grigg’s. They have reviewed our times and we can now get people signed up. This is a first come first serve opportunity.  The money will be applied directly to your dues or if paid in full, you can turn in a travel receipt (hotel, food, gas, etc., that corresponds to a tournament) for reimbursement.

We have 4 hours shifts available. Please reply to me with the following:

The time you’d like first choice and second choice

Who is working

The team your child is on

Best contact number

For example: 2:30-6:30pm or 5pm-9pm Kaylee and Lori for team U16Dave 509-308-2981

If you or your child is under the age of 16 we need an adult to work the same shift as the underage worker.

We have the following openings:

2:30pm-6:30pm 2 shifts

4pm-8pm 6 shifts

5pm-9pm 4 shifts

8pm-12am 10 shifts

I expect this to fill up quickly, so don’t wait! J

You will be assigned an area in the store to work and you must treat this as a real job. We will be helping the cashiers in the front by bagging or running as needed, we will be cleaning the toys or clothing departments by putting away items or anything that has fallen. Adult males will be assisting in sporting goods with carry outs as needed. If a Grigg’s manager asks you to move to a different location you will need to listen to them. Our assignments when you arrive are subject to change.

No SF young lady will be permitted to leave Grigg’s without her parent or responsible adult picking her up. Once you are at Grigg’s to work, you don’t leave early without clearing it with either Mike or Peggy Baker or other Strike Force Coordinators. You will need to sign in and out to receive this credit.  Grigg’s will send a lump sum check to SF and then the check will be divided by hours worked and each person credited their amount.

All shift coordination is done with Lori Hagadorn. If you discover you can’t make a shift you signed up for you need to call Lori at 509-308-2981 ASAP.

Questions you may call  or email:
