Catholic Mothers of Ministry

CMOMs (Catholic Mothers of Ministry) is a service organization comprised of Catholic Moms that seek to serve God through the vocation of motherhood.  We are women from all walks of life, of all ages, with children of all ages. Whether you're a new mom or veteran mom of six, you'll have a home with us :-)  We meet monthly, and offer playgroups, children's parties, adult socials, faith-building events and activities, and most of all, friendship! As our name suggests, we support various ministries including Vacation Bible School, Saint Vincent de Paul, gifts for priests on their birthdays, Easter egg hunt, and meals for our mamas with new babies.

          CMOMs has the following purposes:
Children: bringing up our Children as practicing Catholics, benevolent citizens, with faith, love and enthusiasm
Minister: to each other, the parish and the larger community
Observe: the laws of God and His Church and live in unselfish love as testimony to the Catholic faith; appreciate the sacramental character and responsibility of marriage
Make a difference: offer love, sympathy and help; foster vocations to the priesthood and religious life; encourage and support friendships; grow spiritually; have fun!

          September News!

Dear Lord, from you, every family in Heaven and on earth take its name. Unite us in our love for you. Help us to understand our part in your divine plan. Guide us through prayer to protect, guide, and nurture our families. Speak your words of wisdom within us, among us that we may come to understand how to share your love with one another. Let us see your face in all mothers in this community. Fill our hearts with dignity and respect for the special commission you have given us. You chose Mary to be the mother of your holy family. Help us, Catholic Mothers of Ministry, to follow her example. Amen.

1.) Introductions. Take 5 minutes and introduce yourself to the neighbor on your left. Take note of their name, where they are from, and any hobbies or interests they have. You’ll be introducing them to the group!

2.) Reflection: This year we are going to be taking some helpful ideas from the book Graced and Gifted by Kimberly Hahn.

The 5 Ps: Prayer (relationship with God), Person (Personal Needs), Partner( Relationship with your spouse), Parent (Relationship with your children)  and Profession (Homemaking and other professional responsibilities).

Checking to see if the following relationships are in balance can be so helpful in fulfilling our calling to marriage and motherhood. So often we end up with our prayer life or personal needs coming after our children’s or husband’s needs. Or we keep putting off being able to play with and enjoy our kids because we need to do one more load of laundry. If you feel overwhelmed maybe try putting your day in order of the 5 Ps and see if that helps. What are some tips or ideas you have on how to juggle these priorities? ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

            3.) Calling all volunteers!

Looking for a fun way to meet new moms while serving your community? Great! We always need more volunteers for small jobs. If you can devote even an hour of your time please let us know. We need you to help keep our group running! We currently are looking for Mama’s who can help out with the following:

Trunk or Treat: On 10/29 from 2-4 pm. We need mamas to co-ordinate with the Cathedral and lots of volunteer trunks. This doesn’t take much time and your trunk can be as simple or complex as you like. Such a wonderful activity for the children in our community!

4.) Saint & Prayer for the Month

            Saint Theresa of Calcutta

Quote: "I know God will not give me anything I can't handle. I just wish that He didn't trust me so much."

Blessed Teresa of Calcutta, you allowed the thirsting love of Jesus on the Cross to become a living flame within you, and so became the light of His love to all. Obtain from the Heart of Jesus (here make your request). Teach me to allow Jesus to penetrate and possess my whole being so completely that my life, too, may radiate His light and love to others. Amen.

Immaculate Heart of Mary, Cause of Our Joy, pray for me.

Blessed Teresa of Calcutta, pray for me.
