Welcome to the Two Tars Tent of the Delaware Valley. We are now in our 41st year, supplying access to great comedy films and movie history for all to enjoy.
The Two Tars tent of the Delaware Valley is one of the pioneer tents of the Sons of the Desert. We began back in 1971 and our first banquet featured Dr. John McCabe, the founder of the Sons. He was to return many times.
We began at the Philadelphia Rifle Club in the Olney section, and stayed for many years. We then moved to a church in Jenkintown, PA, due to the closing of The Rifle Club. Next we met at Park Town Place near the Art Museum, with a stop for a few years at the Cherry Hill, NJ Holiday Inn. We then moved to our present home, The Cannstatter Club in the Philadelphia Northeast. The Cannstatter Club offers wonderful food and drink for our meetings, and the atmosphere is intimate and inviting.
We welcome all who are interested in keeping the comedy of Laurel and Hardy alive. Our evenings are fun and our members enjoy greeting newcomers to the group. Please join us!
This web site is a work in progress. We want to bring accurate information to you, and provide some enjoyment as we remember Laurel and Hardy, the greatest comedy team of all time.
In the next few months we will put together a page of photos of past Two Tars events, including shots of our members and wonderful guests. We want your comments, and if you can offer photos or your own personal stories about the Sons of the Desert or L&H, we would like to add them here.
Comments and suggestions are always welcome. Just go to our Contacts page.
