Community Plot

Community Plot (CP)

-All ages, cultures, and ability levels welcome!-

WHAT'S THIS?

The Community Plot (or CP for short) is a Shared Garden Space at Two Coves Garden.

WHO RUNS IT?

The CP is run by a group of volunteers called Core Gardeners

(find info on joining the Core Gardener group below).

CAN I JOIN IN? YES! Here is how:

Join us as a Guest Gardener during our open hours, called Garden Together Hours. You can find our Garden Together Hours posted on the Google Calendar below, or on our chalkboard sign at the CP entrance. You don't need to sign up: just come on out!

WHAT ARE GARDEN TOGETHER HOURS?

At Garden Together Hours, Core Gardeners and Guest Gardeners share some work. This is a time for enjoying the garden and sharing knowledge. If food and flowers are ready to pick, we each take a small portion home after our work is done.

PLEASE NOTE:

The Community Plot is not open to Guest Gardeners

outside of Garden Together Hours.

JOIN OUR MAILING LIST and receive announcement and info about Garden Togethers, Work Days, and special events. Email a request to: tcggroupadmin(at)gmail(dot)com

CAN I BECOME A CORE GARDENER? YES! The only requirement is your interest and a little commitment. It's completely fine if you're not an experienced gardener, or only have a little time to contribute.

We would love your help! The more Core Gardeners we have, the better we can take care of the CP, and the more we can share it with the Community! Please come help the CP thrive!

Core Gardeners enjoy some privilege: They share decision making about gardening the CP, and have unlimited access (i.e. may garden on their own).

And they have some responsibility: They must contribute some time (at least 3 hours a month) to making the CP available to Guest Gardeners (e.g. hosting Garden Together Hours, or doing some comparable work like outreach or working on signage).

TO JOIN THE CORE GARDENER GROUP THERE ARE 2 STEPS:

- Fill out the Core Gardener Registration Form (click here)

- And Complete 6 hours of work during Gardener Together Hours in the CP

GARDEN TOGETHER!

HISTORY AND MISSION OF THE COMMUNITY PLOT:

In 2008, a group of Two Coves Garden members formed a committee to create a Community Plot. It is a place where all members of the community – individual plot gardeners, people on the waiting list for a plot, and neighbors are welcome to garden, harvest, and enjoy the garden together. Today this plot is a reality, but needs help, muscles, and support from gardeners and the community. The Community Plot is located in the central space, just inside the entrance.

Mission Statement:

To grow community through:

  • Creating a space where gardeners can garden together;

  • Inviting greater participation in the garden;

  • Building bridges by sharing work, education, and food.
