Drama, Text, Scipture

The book Drama, Text, Scripture (Drama, tekst, pisava), edited by Petra Pogorevc and Tomaž Toporišič, brings together original studies from Slovenian authors (Bojana Kunst, Blaz Lukan, Barbara Orel, Maja Šorli, Tomaž Toporišič) and translated texts of  renowned theoreticians and practitioners of theater (Elinor Fuchs, Heiner Goebbels, Hans - Thies Lehmann, Patrice Pavis, Gerda Poschmann, Jean - Pierre Sarrazac, Małgorzata Sugiera). It raises a series of theoretical questionings of the mutations of drama and (no more) dramatic texts and theater as well as the wider field of the performing arts, as recorded by the second half of the 20th century, but “crystallized” with transition into the new millennium.

If the last two decades produced a feeling that the text of the theater started again on its acquisition of power, it became equally obvious that the drama was no longer a text form, which would be automatically turned or translated to theatrical event. Within the theoretical field transformations or ecdyses of both drama and text produced new definitions of textual, dramatic, no longer dramatic, post-dramatic and rhapsodic within the contemporary theater and performing arts.
