Introduction to Advanced Mathematical Thinking
Course Description: The propositional and predicate calculus, set theory, methods of mathematical proof, inductive and recursive thinking, relations and functions, infinity. Emphasis is on rigorous proofs of mathematical statements. Prerequisite: MTH 275 (or 256) or APM 263 permission of department.
There will be 3 midterms and a final. There will also be 10 homework sets. Grading will be done as follows:
Midterm I 20%
Midterm II 20%
Midterm III 20%
Grades will be computed using the following formula
grade =(T - 35)/15
where T is the total percentage score during the semester.

to me. No cellular phones or any electronic equipment is allowed during lecture. No makeups will
be given other then in case of documented emergencies. Class participation is mandatory.
