I have been a data scientist/engineer with Commonwealth Bank of Australia since Jan 2015.

I was a PhD candidate at the Australian National University and a graduate researcher at the NICTA Machine Learning Research Group from 2012 - 2014. My main research was focused on developing powerful models and scalable techniques (specially, Gaussian processes) for non-linear, probabilistic supervised learning problems with large amount of data (big data, if you will). I have published at top-level international conferences in machine learning (NIPS, ICML, AISTATS, and UAI) and in information retrieval (SIGIR).

My experience further spans across a variety of topics, such as distributed programming, friends/links recommendation in social networks, non-linear non-parametric factorisation methods for recommendations, topic models, opinion/sentiment analysis, and text summarisation of online reviews.

Beside machine learning, I am passionate in creating software to solve problems. I have created several Android applications, some of which are well received by users (over 50,000 downloads with average rating of four). These were all developed in my free time over a few weekends.
