Hello Two Rock Families!

Two Rock School Education Foundation (TRSEF) is excited to start the new school year, ready to provide some amazing events for the students and families!

Let me start by introducing the TRSEF Board. Elena Craig, our amazing Treasurer, manages the funds, pays invoices and updates the board on our financial standing. Our wonderful Secretary, Reya Grossmann, is responsible for all of our board and member meeting minutes as well as a wide variety of other essential roles to keep the board functioning well. Our Vice President, Lindsay O’Conner, performs a wide variety of tasks, from filling in any board members absence and being the right hand of the Board President. My name is Brandy Campbell and I am the Board President.  I am always open and available to answer questions and concerns about the programs TRSEF supports and provides.

The TRSEF Board has two main goals this year.  Our first goal is parent involvement, and second goal is to develop partnerships with the community. Of course, these both come into play with our need to raise funds to pay the salaries and buy supplies for the programs TRSEF supports. This year, TRSEF will need to raise roughly $16,000 to keep the music, art and library programs at our school running smoothly. Without parent involvement and community partnerships we will not be able to do this.

This year, TRSEF has raised the funds to provide music, art and library teachers for our children.  We have heard your requests for more collaboration. We are planning to contract with the Youth and Arts Program of San Rafael to provide an extensive 9-week residency art program for each of our classes, TK-6.   This program will focus on 3D projects, such as print and book making. In January, our new art teacher will take over and work with students on water color, pastels and other aspects of art.  Out Music program will include weekly music classes for students and afterschool band and choir classes. Our library program will remain the same with a structured library program for the students. The teachers and our librarian will be collaborating to order even more books from Scholastic, thanks to our fundraising efforts with last year’s book fair.

TRSEF has its very own web page now! ( https://sites.google.com/site/trsefpetaluma/) Here we will post our meeting agendas and minutes. We will also update parents with what is new with TRSEF and our events. We also have a brand new bulletin board near the entrance of the school with important dates and general information. TRSEF general meetings will be offered via Facebook live on our Two Rock School Education Foundation page. (https://www.facebook.com/TwoRockSchoolEducationFoundation.TRSEF/)

TRSEF memberships are an important part of our bylaws. This year TRSEF memberships will be $5 per family. The benefits of being a member include voting rights at general meetings, e-mails of minutes from meetings for your review, and $1 off each ticketed event TRSEF sponsors throughout the year. Your child will also receive a “brag tag” for their chain if your family becomes a member.

If you are interested in becoming more active at the school and would like to become a committee chair for any of our open positions, please approach a board member or let the office staff know.

All TRSEF communication will come home on a standard color this year.  The TRSEF color will be Lime Green. Easy access of all of flyers and communication will be accessible from our above mentioned website.
