posted Jun 28, 2017, 3:31 PM by Daniel Carter Beard

Good morning all!

Current Troop 555 Business;

Remember class “B”. Scout related “T” shirt, scout pants/shorts and scout socks.

We will not be having a meeting on the 11th of July. This is the week after summer camp. We will just be taking a well deserved break. We will return back to regular meetings on the 18th.

ATTENTION ALL SCOUTS, it is getting close to the Annual Planning Conference. Please be thinking and coming up with some ideas that you want to do. These can be just about anything, some may take more planning than others, but I think we have enough resources in the troop to get just about anything done.

Habitat for Humanity was a huge success, thanks to all the scouts that came out and participated, Aiden B., Dustin B., Christopher N., Kostya Y, David B., Josh E. and Tyler W.

Summer Camp @Goshen/Camp Bowman….July 1-8, Leaving Saturday the 1st at noonish and returning on the 8th by noonish.

2017 National Jamboree July 19-28, we are looking at taking a day trip to the Jamboree on Wednesday the 26th. If anyone is interested please see me or Mrs. Coffey.

 MEDICALS….Please be proactive on having these done. You will need these to be up to date to attend, Summer Camp, the National Jamboree, and The Summit Bechtel Reserve.

Upcoming events Thomas Ames court of Honor  July 30, 2017. Details to come.

NYLT 2017 (we are proud to say that Mr. Tyler W. and Mr. Logan M. will be attending)
Heart of Virginia Council will hold its first ever National Youth Leadership Training Course at the Cub Adventure Camp starting August 6th 2017. NYLT is the BSA’s next level of leadership training for Scouts, Varsity Scouts, Venturers, and Sea Scouts after completing Introduction to Leadership for Troops / Introduction to Leadership for Crews and Ships. The NYLT course centers around the concepts of what a leader must BE, what he must KNOW, and what he must DO. The key elements are then taught with a clear focus on HOW TO. The skills come alive during the week as the patrol goes on a Quest for the Meaning of Leadership.

If you have not done so, please register your KROGER card. This is an easy way for us to raise funds for our Troop.

*All Scouts are challenged to look into earning the religious emblem of their faith. To find out more, go to www.praypub.org

Yours in scouting,

Stephen Witt
