The Scoutmaster would like to thank David Elliott and Weedon Cloe for
making the Court of Honor Ceremony Tuesday a success.
Another big thank you goes to our Court of Honor Dinner Coordinator
Diane Francis. The Mexican dishes were a big success. Please also
extend thank yous to Lynn Catlett and Craig Francis for assisting
Diane with the evenings setup and meal.
Fall Youth Leader Elections are on Tuesday, September 25th. Scouts
please think seriously about your other commitments and be sure you
have the time and willingness to serve as an officer of the troop.
Stop selling stew!! You guys have done a great job. We have sold a
little over a 1,000 quarts. Now we got to make it. We're trying to
make sure we have all the help we need. We need folks to commit to:
. Moving the Pots Thursday night September 27th. Usually this takes
about 6-8 strong men a couple of hours, about 7:00-9:00 that night.
(Meet at the Pavilion at Shady Grove Methodist Church.
. Chicken Picking Friday at 6:00 PM. All hands needed!!!
. Adults and Scouts to stay overnight. We really need at least three
shifts (5-6 scouts per shift) to do this. We're more than happy to
have (and encourage) adults to volunteer to stir with the boys.
Please let us know if you can stay, and if you will stir!
. Packing the Stew - Saturday morning - We start packing around 6-6:30
and we're usually done by 8:00.
. Clean up and returning the pots - Again, strong men for cleaning and
returning the pots.
Remember many hands make light work.

Tuesday, October 9th is Fall open house. Please bring a friend to
meet the troop and remember a Scout is Friendly. (Need a volunteer to
present our Open House to the Cub breakout at District Roundtable on
October PLC is scheduled for Thursday, October 11th at 7:30 PM in the
Carson Building. If you are an officer and are unable to attend you
must notify the Scoutmaster. We will work on September and October
Meetings. Please go to link below, and come to the meeting prepared.

Training for Youth Leaders is on Saturday, October 13th. 9:00 AM to
12:00 PM. All leaders elected or appointed on Tuesday, September 25th
are required to attend.
OA Merit Badge Weekend is October 19th – October 21st. Sign ups are
Do you want to be more involved with the Troop but don’t want to go
camping? Please consider joining the committee. The Troop Committee
meets on the first Tuesday of each month at 7:30 PM. Duties include
budget, advancement, fund raising and leadership review.
If you have any current merit badge books that you are willing to part
with– Please donate them to our troop library.
The 2013 Boy Scout Jamboree is coming. Please join our four scouts
who are planning to attend. For more information please goto:

$1,200 for youth, $850 for adults and the deal of the century $425 for
youth staff ages 16 to 24. If you are thinking about going please
hurry, the price goes up after 10/31.
