Thanks to all who came to and participated in our Court of Honor Tuesday night. Congratulations to all who earned awards, and a special thanks to all who brought food – especially Mrs. Showalter and Mrs. Tehan who lead the organization of the food!
We’ll have our regular meeting Tuesday night. Here are some announcements:
It's time for...POPCORN!
It's Council's annual fundraiser and we are encouraging each Scout to sell $200. Call your friends and family and ask your neighbors. Tell them not only will they get the popcorn, but they will also be supporting Scouting.
Anyone who fills up an order form will get a bow & mallow. And, everyone who participates in the sale will be entered into a drawing for our Popcorn Prizes. We have a flashlight, survival tool, t-shirt, and the grand prize of a bow & mallow.
To liven up the competition a little, we put a challenge out there to the patrols. The patrol with the highest sales will win a pizza party in November. Let's see which patrol has better popcorn sellers!
Orders are due 11/3 and popcorn will be here 11/21 - more info to come as we get closer to the date. If you did not receive an order form or need another, we will have them at the next Troop meeting. If you have questions, please contact Kelly Slicker at firstname.lastname@example.org or 730-2287. Happy selling!
Be Selling Stew!!! Orders are due September 22nd. Stew is fast approaching (Oct. 2&3). We need all the scouts to sell, and just as importantly – we need all the scouts to participate!
On the weekend of 9/25-27 we will be attending the district Skill-o-Ree. More details to come, but be prepared to demonstrate or learn the following:
- Axe, knife sharpening
- Totin chip test
- Log chopping
- Log splitting
- Fire starting
- Rope making
- Stone tossing
- Water hauling
- Campsite set-up
- Flag etiquette
In addition to the Scout Skill challenges, there will be a scavenger hunt and a dutch oven cooking. At night, there will be a campfire full of songs, skits, jokes, tall tales and lots of fun. Units are encouraged to perform a song, skit, jokes, etc. at the evening campfire.
Elections are the 29th. On the 22nd we need to know who is willing to run for the various positions!
· 9/25-27 – Fall District “Skill-O-ree”
· 9/29 – Troop Elections
· 10-2-3 – Fall Stew
Please remember that Troop meetings start promptly at 7:30. Leaders are there from about 7:15 and Scouts can gather and take advantage of this time to talk to the leaders. If you are leaving the meeting early, please make sure the scoutmaster or an assistant scoutmaster know you are leaving so we won’t go looking for you.
