This is to let you know that of the Heart of Virginia Council will have eight Jamboree Troops attending the 2010 National Jamboree at AP Hill in July/August of next year. One-fourth of the 36 adult leaders, including 3 or the 8 Scoutmasters, selected by Council to lead these eight Jamboree Troops are from the Battlefield District.
Each of the eight Jamboree Troops will have 36 scouts assigned to it. This means that there will a maximum of 288 scouts from our Council who be eligible to attend the 2010 Jamboree as part of the Heart of Virginia Council contingent. To date 193 scouts have registered to take part in the 2010 Jamboree. This leaves only 95 openings . It is expected that these openings will be filled soon. Consequently, if you know of any scout in our District who is considering going to the 2010 Jamboree that scout should be encouraged to acted quickly to ensure that he will be able to be a part of the Heart of Virginia contingent.
Registration has to been done initially at National. A scout needs to log in at http://www.myscouting.com Once there, the scout will need to click on Event Registration and thereafter click on Jamboree. The 2010 National Jamboree Youth Participant Application will be the next selection. The application fee at National is $10. Once a scout has completed his Jamboree application with National the scout will be able to print out a form which the scout will need his scoutmaster to sign. The scout must thereafter take the signed form to Council Headquarters to complete the registration process.
