PLC this Thursday December 9th. (Tonight if you are reading this the day it was sent) Youth Leaders should attend!
This Saturday the troop is going to the Spy Museum! (Shhhh - its Top Secret!) Meet at the Carson Building at 8:00 AM. You must have the admission fee with you, and extra money for meals and souvenirs. (Admission is $18.)
Next Tuesday night is a regular meeting. It is also our last meeting of 2010!
Congratulations to the boys who completed the Carpentry Merit Badge! It only took a hundred years! (And thanks to the leaders who lead the badge as well!)

Aviation Merit Badge at the VA Aviation Museum Dec 28th 9:30AM-4:30PM. Weather Merit Badge at the VA Aviation Museum Dec 29th 9:30AM-12:30PM. For both MB: You need to be 11 years old and register on the Va Aviation Museum Website, pay the fees to the Museum, and get a Blue Card from SM prior to the date. Their Website is http://www.vam.smv.org go to Education then to Boy Scout Merit Badges.
A special request has come from Troop #521, they are planning a nine day canoe trip to Northern Tier on June 24, 2011. They have 4-8 openings for Boy Scouts or adults. You must be 13 by Sept 1, 2011, Pass BSA Swim Test, physically handle carrying a canoe across land as there are 42 portages, you should be First Class but this is not a requirement. Cost will be $1200 per person, Let Tim Swingle know of your interest by 1/31/11.
A few things to be thinking about in the near (and not so near) future.
The Nawakwa OA Carillon Service Project is on December 22-23.
In January and February the council will hold the Patrick Henry Public Speaking merit badge program. This takes place January 22, 29 & February 5th. See the Scoutmaster, or another leader for more details.
Winter Camp is a possibility (Just like summer camp only completely different) See Mrs. Coffey for details.
Summer Camp is July 10-16. The troop has already made commitments. If you are interested in Summer Camp, the troop would like the first deposit of $100 toward the fee by the end of February.
Advice from the Scoutmaster: Before you are critical of another - Hike a mile in their boots!

Please remember that Troop meetings start promptly at 7:30. Leaders are there from about 7:15 and Scouts can gather and take advantage of this time to talk to the leaders. Please don't wait until the end of the meeting for advancement sing-off. If you are leaving the meeting early, please make sure the scoutmaster or an assistant scoutmaster know you are leaving so we won’t go looking for you.
