The planning weekend was a great success – thanks to all who came and to all who contributed their ideas! (P.S.: Those who came – Mr. Elliott is gathering the camping fee- $15 – Thanks!) All the events are now on the troop calendar – check it out! (http://troop555va.blogspot.com/ : bottom of the blog.)
Stew is fast approaching (Oct. 2&3). Please make sure you have the dates on the calendar! We need all the scouts to sell, and just as importantly – we need all the scouts to participate! (Did you know that your scout account credit from stew is connected to the hours you work as well as how much you sell?)
Next Tuesday (9/25) we will be doing the meal planning for our kick-back camping weekend!
Next Weekend is our kick-back camping trip – A great time! We will depart from the church at 5:30 Friday evening and head to Lake Gaston.
Thanks to all those who donated golden gifts receipts.
There are still Jamboree Openings Left! The Council has committed to sending 9 Troops of 36 youth each to the Jamboree. Check outhttp://www.bsajamboree.org/
Advice from the Scoutmaster: “Worst Day or Best Day – It’s all a matter of perspective!”
· 8/28-30 – Kick Back Camping Weekend
· 9/8 – No meeting – First Day of School
· 9/11/13 – OA Service Weekend and Ordeal (OA Members encouraged to attend)
· 9/25-27 – Fall District “Skill-O-ree”
· 9/29 – Troop Elections
· 10-2-3 – Fall Stew
Please remember that Troop meetings start promptly at 7:30. Leaders are there from about 7:15 and Scouts can gather and take advantage of this time to talk to the leaders. If you are leaving the meeting early, please make sure the scoutmaster or an assistant scoutmaster know you are leaving so we won’t go looking for you.
