Menus (cooking contest for Eagle Point!) and Rockets were the evenings work. More to be done on the rockets – Remember patrols will be judged on design and the patrol method. Launch date is 9/16.

Welcome a new scout! Steven!

Friday! Friday! Friday ! Eagle Point this weekend. We will gather at the parking lot at 4:00. We will be cooking dinner at the camp Friday night, so the sooner we can leave the church, the sooner we can get down there. We plan to be back to the parking lot on Sunday at or before noon. Please pack as light as you can. (I’m only bringing a small duffel bag and a chair.) This is a kickback weekend, and you shouldn’t need much more than a light sleeping bag or bedroll, dry change of clothes, an extra pair of underwear, a swimsuit, towel and personal eating gear. You need a pair of close-toed shoes to go in the water. (Crocks are OK if they have a strap around the back.)

A permission slip is attached to this e-mail. The cost for the trip is $15 to cover food. Remember we travel in class A’s (at least your class A shirt – neckerchiefs are not needed.) No electronics – leaders will have cell phones for emergencies. Bring your book for advancement – lots of opportunities to get stuff signed off!

From Seamus Thanks to all who helped with my Eagle project!

From Stephen Kelley

"Stephen Kelley's Eagle Project will be taking place on Saturday, September 6th; from 9-4:30 pm. We will be constructing a playground for the kids of a local church, so please bring work gloves, safety glasses, and other basic construction equipment (power drills, wrenches, ect.) if you can. Lunch and drinks will be provided. This is an ambitious project so please try and find time to come, I will need all the help I can get."

The church is Mechanicsville Presbyterian Church; it's address is 7339 Atlee Road, Mechanicsville. Here is a link to it on mapquest -

We need commitments for the Air Show in September 19-21 by next week.

The troop’s 25th Anniversary Celebration will be held October 5th at the Hanover Courthouse Ruritan Park from about 3:00 – 8:00. Please plan to attend with your whole family. If you know of anyone who has been connected with the troop who is not on our address list, please get their address or contact information to Ben Ward ASAP!

If anyone is interested in attending Buckskin next year, you need to let me know ASAP. These fill up fast.

Summer Camp is just around the corner - OK, it's hard to think about Summer Camp for next year, but we will be producing application sheets and asking for commitments (June 28 - July 4). There is also a surprise week trip from July 19 - July 25. Keep this week open - more to follow.

The calendar is on the web site. Not everything is there from our planning, but refer to the calendar for the most recent updates.

If you want to see what dues you owe, see Benjamin. He has figured out dues till the end of the year. There will be no amnesty this year. You must be up to date on dues for advancement.

OA ordeal is coming up and many in the troop have not paid their 2008 dues. Please get this up to date. You can see Ben Ward for forms.

Advice from the Scoutmaster: The Olympic Oath is: "In the name of all the competitors I promise that we shall take part in these Olympic Games, respecting and abiding by the rules which govern them, committing ourselves to a sport without doping and without drugs, in the true spirit of sportsmanship, for the glory of sport and the honour of our teams". The scout oath helps us all live up to the Olympic ideals!
