High Adventure

Each summer Troop 81 offers a high adventure experience to our older Scouts. The Boy Scouts of America operate three high adventure programs: the Northern Tier Canoe Base, the Philmont Scout Ranch and the Florida Seabase. Troop 81 has sponsored trips to each of the three national programs. Troop 81 has also offered a high adventure backpacking experience along various sections of the Appalachian Trail.

There are several ways to participate in a high adventure program.

Laurel Highlands Council Trips

The Laurel Highlands Council organizes council-wide trips to Philmont and the Florida Seabase. You can get details on these trips by contacting the Scout Service Center at Flag Plaza (412) 471-2927 or through the Scoutmaster.

Other Ideas?

If you have other ideas for a high adventure trip, share those with the Troop Leaders Council or any Scoutmaster. For example, we have a number of backpacking enthusiasts in the Troop who organized trips to different sections of the Appalachian Trail.
