Hi All!! Few Reminders, plus we added new events to the schedule!
PARENT/SCOUT MEETING MINUTES
1. Annual Dues ($35) are due at Thursday, November 19 meeting (typo in previous email that said 11/21, please make note :).
2. Our troop earned $246 through our recent fundraiser with 75 percent participation! CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! Through our fundraising, we are able to create an amazing scout program that costs (annual average) $250 to $300 per year per scout without asking more of parents. Those that were unable to participate in our fundraiser, we would kindly request a voluntary troop donation of $25 if your family is able to do so at this time. Thank you for your help and understanding!!!
3. NEW AND UPDATED EVENTS!!! Please mark your calendars and plan for your scout to attend the following (new events highlighted):
Junior Girl Scout Patch Placement
NEW LEADERSHIP OPPORTUNITIES FOR OUR TROOP: 61856 will lead two large Girl Scout-Wide Service Unit activities and events this year: The Giving Tree and Girl Scout Week Roller Skating. Giving tree will allow us to collect holiday gifts from all Washington Township Troops that will be dispersed to children in need in Washington Township. Girl Scout Week Roller Skating will allow us to plan and execute a Girl Scout-Wide event.
BRONZE AWARD: We are encouraging scouts to submit suggested Service Projects that can be used to earn the Bronze Award. Examples are posted on www.troop61856.com. Our troop will vote on a winning idea at our December Holiday Party. We will have 4 meetings to work on our project. Additional gatherings may be required depending on the complexity of our project.
Bronze Award is the highest achievement that can be earned by Junior Girl Scouts. The award is provided by Girls Scouts of USA (not Stacy and Donna). A Specific set of requirements must be met by each scout. We will communicate requirements as we are pursuing them throughout the year. We understand some scouts are transitioning in middle school or have other time restrictions. Earning the Bronze Award is not mandatory. But we hope that most of our scouts can/will earn it.
At the end, Donna and I will need to submit detailed reports of each scout’s participation and time dedicated to the project. This report to GSUSA will determine scout’s eligibility to earn her award.
CARLI’S BRONZE AWARD IDEA
(Please submit YOUR SCOUT’s idea through our web site,
Carli’s was provided as an example and inspiration)
FUNDRAISING: Each year, our troop spends $250-$300 per scout on meeting supplies, prizes, patches, awards, Service Unit Events, Troop Events, badge-earning trips, and cookie award trips. We do all of this without asking more than our $35 in troop dues. This can only be accomplished through our troop’s powerful fundraising efforts.
Fundraising items were distributed at our meeting. If you did not receive them, please plan to pick them up from Stacy Aguilar, 11 White Birch Road, Turnersville, NJ. Goals were discussed during the meeting. If you choose not to participate in fundraising, we are kindly suggesting an additional $25 voluntary donation on top of our annual dues of $35 (total $60). All Fundraising materials are due at our October 15 meeting.
Our troop will also have a fun mother-daughter makeover party at our October 15 meeting with a Mary Kay Consultant. 100 percent profit from any product purchases made that night, will go towards our troop fundraising efforts. Checks, cash, credit cards accepted.
