Troop 456 Heritage

Troop History
Troop 456 was founded in 1968, with a charter date of February, 1969.  Since then it has met weekly, including summer months, at Franklin Elementary School, Centennial, Colorado. The Troop’s focus is providing scouts a fun and supportive environment in which to discover and nurture self-confidence, self-respect, teamwork, leadership, and a respect and love of the outdoors.

Troop 456 emblem
Troop 456's emblem was designed over thirty-five years ago by a Troop 456 scout.
  • The Colorado State flag provides the background
  • Mt. Sneffels, 14,150 feet high, in the Uncompahgre National Forest of Colorado, represents the troop's 14er treks and the constant ascent of Scouts on the path to Eagle.
  • The "456" numerals in Railroad Roman font are from the Rio Grande narrow gauge steam engine making the Silverton to Durango run.
  • The hands represent the brotherhood of scouting in the left handed Boy Scout handshake.
