Hey there scouts!

This week we have a Court of Honor! A night of celebrating and rewarding scouts with Merit Badges they've worked on and even advancing in rank!

Just a reminder for those going to Maddox this weekend, because of Court of Honor you'll need to call the Troop Quartermaster and schedule a time to meet and gather material for the camp out from the Quartermaster's Shed.

Railroad Badge Opportunity!

Hello Scouts!

There is a Railroading Merit Badge meeting coming up on April 9th in the SLO Railroad Museum!

This will be your chance to earn requirement to achieve this merit badge with a small fee that will include a Model Railroad Kit and other materials

November Update

There's no meeting on November 24th. Have a happy Thanksgiving!

   -PLC Training Campout @ Camp Maddox  is on December 2nd-4th. You'll need a consent form by then!
   -Court of Honor will be on December 8th!
   -Gift Box Exchange is where we help our community for the holidays, join us on December 17th!
   -The San Diego Trip is where we'll get to visit the U.S.S. Midway from January 4th to January 8th in 2017. Be sure to turn in your consent forms!

Patrol Service Opportunities!

Have some extra time in your day and need services hours to complete? Here's a list from your Senior Patrol Leader about upcoming dates you can help out on!

Troop 413 Patrol service opportunities as of 5/2016


The Oceano/Five Cities Elks Lodge will be holding its annual Flag Day celebration on Tuesday, June 14th at 6:00 PM.

We need 11 Scouts for the flag day event.

We would meet at 5:30 to go over the event.

There will be no flag retirement ceremony this year.

Dinner is being served that night and the Scouts would be welcome to partake.


Elks Veterans Day celebration this year

Friday, November 11 at 6:00 PM.

The troop provides the color guard - 5 Scouts, 2 on each flag and one to lead the ceremony.

Again, dinner is provided (that one is a Turkey dinner).


Santa Maria Elks Lodge needs scouts to carry banners in its annual Santa Maria Elks Parade

Saturday, June 4th.

They would like two plus teams of 4 Scouts each.

The Santa Maria Elks Lodge makes a monetary donation to each participating Scout unit who help with the parade.


Strawberry Stampede Fun Run

5/29 from 7:30 am to 9:00am

This is a service project we do for our sponsors almost every year, so it is important that we make a good showing.

At least 10 scouts to help out with this. (2 teams of 5)

Scouts who go will be handing water cups to runners as they pass by at two different points: one for the 5K portion and one for the 10K portion.


Los Flores Ranch Park in Santa Maria is having some trail work days in May.

Volunteers are so important to finishing the trails in order to get them open to all our mountain biker riders, hikers and horseback riders.

   -Maddux Consent Forms and payment are due May 5th
      -Maddux Camp out on  May 20th to the 22nd!
   -NYLT is coming in August
   -Half  Dome has been cancelled...
      -Alternatives have been brought up to the recent PLC, stay tuned
   -National Jamboree 2017 planning is coming up

April Updates!

-Troop meetings are back to normal!
   We had fun at Strother Park, but we are back to our normal meeting spot, St. John's.

Here are some important upcoming dates to note:
   -NYLT Letters are due 4/14
   -Camporee 4/15 - 4/17
   -The 2nd trip to the Merit Badge Powow 4/23
   -PLC Meeting this Thursday (4/8) 30 minutes before Troop Meeting starts
   -For those who are interested in taking that Railroad Merit Badge, there will be and opportunity on 4/24 (Ask Mr. Lebens for more details)
   -The Troop Barbecue is on 4/30 (Saturday) Don't forget to sell your tickets before it's too late!

March Meeting Update

-Troop Meetings will be moved
    The Thursday Troop Meeting have moved locations for March 17th and the 31st to Strother Park out past Paulding middle school.
    The Court of Honor will be held near the Arroyo Grande High School at the Pacific Christian Center, 207 Pilgrim Way.

-NYLT!
    National Youth Leadership Training release forms will be due on June 14th and the event will take place on August 1st-6th.
    For those who do not know what NYLT is, it is a program founded by BSA to send kids to a camp that will teach them life skills on leadership to be a leader in a Patrol, Troop, and even in the future.

-Upcoming Trips
    Consent forms and money are due as soon as possible
        -Half Dome $100
        -Mt. Whitney $90
        -Panama City $50
        -Camp-o-ree $38 (Money and form due this Thursday March 17th)

-Other Events
  1. March 17th Thursday - PLC 6:15 pm Don't forget to meet at Strother Park!
  2. March 20th Sunday - Quarter Master Shed Cleanup 10 am-5 pm Each patrol must send 1 representative to help keep the camp gear organized!

- The CPR and Wilderness First Aid were very successful events!

We had 15 people to train in the CPR course who are now certified with 3 hours of training, as well as 13 people train in the Wilderness First Aid certified with over 10 hours of  training.

Thank you to the Ryan J. Clarke CPR Fund for Schools, and Mr. Daniel Doggett for sharing their time and experience with us!

***Confetti egg stuffing parties will commence in the parent room starting this week at 7:00 pm during each troop meeting.
