One of the keys to a successful Scouting experience for young people is trained volunteer Leadership. Troop 370 is committed to providing top quality trained Leaders to our troop. Our scouts and parents deserve it. We are dedicated to increasing our knowledge and skills so we are better able to deliver a quality Scouting program to our entire youth membership.
What Makes a Trained Leader?
All leaders are required to complete Boy Scout Leader Fast Start Training which is available only on-line on the National On-Line Training Center.
All adult leaders are also required to complete Youth Protection Training, which is also available on the National On-Line Training Center.
The final step of on-line training is “This Is Scouting” which is available on the National On-Line Training Center.
The remainder of the training depends upon the position of the adult in the troop.
¨ Scoutmasters and Assistant Scoutmasters are considered trained when they have completed Youth Protection Training, This is Scouting, Scoutmaster and Assistant Scoutmaster Leader Specific Training, and Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills.
¨ Troop Committee Members are considered trained when they have completed Youth Protection Training, This is Scouting, and the on-line Troop Committee Challenge as their Leader Specific training.
Many of the adult leaders of Troop 370 attend advanced training at the various University of Scouting training events held throughout Florida. Most attend Central Florida Council’s University of Scouting. We have also attended North Florida Council’s University of Scouting.
