Scouting is a great opportunity to learn about outdoor skills, leadership, community, faith and yourself. Boys may join who are 11, or are at least 10 years old and have completed the fifth grade, or have earned the Cub Scout Arrow of Light Award, and are younger than 18 years old. Boys experience a vigorous outdoor program and peer group leadership with the counsel of an adult Scoutmaster to achieve the BSA's objectives of developing character, citizenship, and personal fitness.
Our troop participates in activities like rock climbing, camping, archery, rifle shooting, canoeing, swimming, and more! We attend a week-long summer camp each year at Camp Freeland Leslie in Wisconsin. We have regular meetings where we prepare for our outings by learning first aid and wilderness survival, plus work together to earn merit badges and rank advancement. If you join our troop you can run for leadership positions and influence where we go and what we do. The adults aren't in charge, the scouts are.
It’s the adventure of a lifetime!
Visitors are welcome to attend a meeting, preferably both the prospective Scout and his parents. We usually meet on Mondays at the American Legion Hall, 10 W. Chicago Ave. at 7 p.m., but please see the calendar on the home page for current schedule.
Give your son a valuable gift by encouraging him to join Boy Scouting today. The time you invest in him today will make a difference in the person he becomes tomorrow.
