Field Improvement For Everyone (FIFE)

Who we are:

FIFE is a committee of the Fife High School Booster Club and is a non-profit organization recognized by the State of Washington and awarded 501(c)3 status by the Internal Revenue Service (ID # 91-1867991).

We are a volunteer committee whose mission is to improve the athletic fields in support of our youth in the Fife School District.  Our Committee includes members from the Fife School District, Fife High School, Fife Junior Football, Fife-Milton-Edgewood Junior Soccer, Fife High School Alumni, and the community.

The Problem:

The demands on existing fields often lead to overuse and poor quality (sometimes dangerous) field conditions.  Due to overuse and during the rainy season (November - February) many fields are closed.  This includes the stadium field at Fife High School.

Currently, there are more than 1,000 youth soccer and football players in the Fife-Milton-Edgewood area.  Participation increases annually.  Trojan Junior Football, alone, increased from 2 to 5 teams in just 2 years.  In addition to the youth leagues, Fife High School supports varsity, junior varsity, and “C” teams in football, boys’ soccer, and girls’ soccer.  Seasons of play alternate, which means the fields are being used all year long. Fortunately, the Fife School District provides many of the fields used by our youth. The number of fields available for play, however, remains constant.

Our Vision:

The vision is to build an all-weather (turf) field at the Fife High School stadium.  Fundraising has begun with FME Junior Soccer donating $10,000 as “seed” money.

The Fife School District has pledged those dollars saved in maintaining the grass field AND any funds received as a result of field rentals will be “banked” as a way to replace the turf surface when necessary.
