Meteor Scatter Moon Bounce

Meteor Scatter - Moon Bounce

At pingjockey Central, you will find information on working Meteor Scatter.

You will need a software program called WSJT.

("Weak Signal Communication, by K1JT") offers specific digital protocols optimized for meteor scatter, ionospheric scatter,
and EME (moonbounce) at VHF/UHF, as well as HF skywave propagation.
The program can decode fraction-of-a-second signals reflected from ionized meteor
trails and steady signals 10 dB below the audible threshold.

Meet WD4JHD - Russ - aka "MOONMAN"

I worked moon bounce first in 1980 and only completed 4 contacts. The four contacts was over a period of several months.

Presently I can complete four contacts in one moon rise. WSJT software which we are using gives your station a net gain of over 20db.

Tones that you can not even hear with your headphones are being decoded for complete contacts.

The schedules take place on Ping Jockey in real time. Ping Jockey and WSJT make it much easier from 30

years ago to work moon bounce and meteor scatter.

I have not tried to work 432 or 220 moon bounce at this time. Mainly trying to complete VUCC on 2 mtr and WAS.

DXCC is within reach but will take some time. Two of my personal records so far and confirmed Australia (distance) and Feroe Islands (unusual).

The price per contact is dropping. I am continually making new contacts. Consequently the price keeps dropping.

Every contact that I have QSL'ed has sent me a QSL in return.
