Meet Pastor Rich
Rev. Rich Bawinkel began his ministry at Trinity Reformed Church on September 11, 2001 - the day of the terrorist attacks at the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and of the terrorist instigated plane crash in Pennsylvania.  That historic day points to the importance of the church's ministry and message in the challenging days in which we live.

Pastor Rich is a graduate of Northwestern College, Orange City, Iowa, and of Reformed Theological Seminary, Orlando, Florida.  He is married to Anne (nee Derderian).  They began the adventure of marriage on March 25, 2006, (after each being single for about five decades) and are enjoying it very much.  Anne works as the Executive Director of the local affiliate of Love INC (INC stands for In the Name of Christ), Love INC of Greater Hammond.

For those who want to know more about Pastor Rich, here is a more detailed biographical sketch:

Pastor Rich was born in 1956 in Freeport, Illinois, to Leon (deceased) and Marilyn Bawinkel.  He was baptized that same year at Silver Creek Reformed Church in German Valley, Illinois.  He made public confession of faith in Jesus Christ as his Savior in 1975 at Community Reformed Church in Freeport.

Pastor Rich graduated from Northwestern College in Orange City, Iowa in 1978, with Bachelor of Arts degrees in Music and Christian Education.  After graduation he moved to Florida and served as the Organist, Music Director and Youth Minister at Christ Community Church (RCA) in Palm Springs, Florida.

In August, 1990, Pastor Rich began studies at Reformed Theological Seminary in Orlando, Florida, graduating in May 1993, with a Master of Divinity Degree.  During seminary he received field education at Hope Community Church (RCA) in Orlando and Rolling Hills Community Church (RCA) in Zellwood, Florida.

On November 11, 1993, Pastor Rich was ordained as Minister of Word and Sacrament by the Classis of Florida and on November 18, 1993, he was installed as Associate Pastor of Rolling Hills Community Church, Zellwood, Florida.

In June, 1996, Pastor Rich entered Specialized Interim Ministry for the Reformed Church.  He left Rolling Hills to serve as Interim Pastor of Community Reformed Church in Clearwater, Florida.  In October 1997, he began as Interim Pastor at Grace Reformed Church in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, and from Fond du Lac moved to Waupun, Wisconsin, where he served as Interim Pastor at Emmanuel Reformed Church from December, 1999 - June, 2001.  In July of 2001 he accepted the call to serve as pastor of Trinity.

Pastor Rich married Anne Derderian on March 25, 2006.  They had known each other for about 20 years.  While Rich was working at Christ Community Church in Palm Springs, Anne was a member of Trinity Community Church (RCA) in Deerfield Beach (now New Horizons) and they became acquainted as the youth groups from their churches participated in various activities together.  Anne worked for several years as a Licensed Community Association Manager in south Florida.  Then she moved to Orlando to attend Reformed Theological Seminary in 1992 where she received a Master of Arts degree in Theology.

Following seminary Anne completed a one-year internship of Clinical Pastoral Education and then worked as a Chaplain at Florida Hospital in Orlando.  Next, she served as a Chaplain for Westminister Retirement Communities, first at a nursing home in Clermont and then at Westminister Towers, a continuing care retirement community in Orlando.  As noted above, she is now working as the Executive Director of Love INC of Greater Hammond (Indiana).
