Letter to Parents- We are Moving!

posted Jan 10, 2018, 12:39 PM by Dawn Dupont   [ updated Jan 10, 2018, 12:49 PM ]

As all of you know, the big for sale sign outside has been a thorn in our side all year.  Many of you have asked about the future of our preschool and where we will be located next year if the building is sold.  Although we ultimately wanted to purchase the building ourselves, God had bigger plans for us.

I wanted to let all our current families be the first to know that we will be moving out of our current location this summer and moving into St. Ludmilas Elementary School, 215 21st Ave. SW.  St. Ludmilas is a private catholic school located next to St. Ludmilas Catholic Church.

St. Ludmilas announced to their families that the school will closing after this school year the same week our article came out in the paper about us needing a new home.  Fate brought our two churches, St. Ludmilas Catholic and Lovely Lane United Methodist, together.  We started talking, had several meetings and the official decision was made last night.

For those that live outside the Trinity Lane neighborhood I wanted to give you a sense of direction as to where our new location resides.  It is 1.5 miles from Trinity Lane or a 4 minute car ride.  It is 5.9 miles from Lovely Lane Preschool or 8 minute drive.  The school is easily accessible from the interstate like us, but is a little further south ( close to Wilson Ave. exit).

We are sad to be leaving our current location, but beyond excited for the possibilities this new location holds including remaining in a Christian environment, a huge amount of empty space in the school building for us to potentially expand, a large parking lot, 1st floor classrooms (no more stairs!), land to possibly build a brand new playground and an existing full court gymnasium for those cold or rainy days.

This is all the info I can give at this time.  Registration for the 2018-19 school year 2-4 yr old preschool will happen in February as planned, with hopefully more details to pass along then.  But I wanted to let families know as soon as possible that next year will for sure be in the soon former St. Ludmilas Elementary School building so that you can think about how that will work for your family.  We hope the majority of our families will take this new journey with us!

One last thought I had about all of this is what a great community we live in and how powerful it is to see God's work before our eyes.  We have two different churches, one Catholic, one Methodist, that have come together for one common goal- to provide the best possible education to ALL children in our community.  I'm really not trying to present any political view here, just glorifying the fact that when people get to know each other they may find they have more in common than they do differences and at the core is a belief in God.  When one door closes, another opens :)

Trinity Lane Expanding their 4s Program, why you should consider an afternoon class.

posted Feb 5, 2017, 3:22 PM by Dawn Dupont

Registration will be under way for the 2017-2018 school year on Feb. 6th.  One change will be the addition of a 4s class in the afternoons.  This class will run from 12:40-3:30pm Monday-Friday and be offered FREE to families.  You can not sign up for both the AM and PM 4s classes.  Afternoon preschool classes are more difficult to fill but there are some advantages to choosing an afternoon class.  After speaking with multiple schools, one thing they all spoke about was how their afternoon classes were calmer, more focused learning classrooms.  Reasons why this might be the case:

Children have not been rushed out the door to get to school.
Children have had a full nights sleep.
Children have had a full and healthy breakfast and lunch.
Children have had a chance to run and play.
Quieter environment- less students in the afternoon

Here are some things to consider if you are debating on morning vs. afternoon classes OR we've told you only afternoon spots are left:

Is your child an early riser waking up between 6-7am (good candidate for am preschool) or do they like to sleep until 8am or later?
Does your child take time to warm up in the mornings or do they seem to enjoy hanging out in their jammies for a bit?
Do you have a baby at home that makes it more difficult to get out the door quickly in the mornings?
Do you enjoy doing other preschool age community activities that are usually held in the mornings during the week?Playgroups, story time at library, music class, gymnastics, toddler time at AirFX, Art or movement classes thru CR Recreation, etc.
Does your child have sensory issues?
Does your child have difficulty warming up to new situations or other children?
Is your child no longer napping or taking naps less than 7 days a week?
What times work best for your work schedule and daycare?
How far away is the first day of school?  Nap schedules can change over 6-7 months.
The afternoon class will mostly likely have a few less students which means more one on one time with staff.  This provides opportunities for extra support in learning for a student struggling and opportunities to challenge the advanced student.

Naps and who afternoon classes are best for:
Children who are not in need of a nap every day and may only need to nap a few times a week. (If your child is napping less than 7 days, an afternoon class will keep your child stimulated at school. Your child can then return home for an earlier dinner, bath and bedtime making for a much smoother evening routine (for all of you). This also facilitates a smooth weaning from afternoon napping.

If you'd like to feel the difference in preschool when there's only one class present, visit on a Friday morning.  You'll be amazed at how calm and quiet it feels!

Fundraiser for 2016-2017 School Year

posted Sep 19, 2016, 9:28 AM by Dawn Dupont

The City Books have arrived!  Today and tomorrow your child will bring home one sample book of our fundraiser for the year.  The books sell for $25.  The City Book fundraiser has done well the last few years so the board has chosen to continue with it this year.  This will be the only fundraiser we will do this school year.  We do not want you to sell door to door.  Simply ask family, friends or take to work.  If you choose not to sell any, that is fine too.  Simply return the one sample book given to you in the sales envelope.  All orders and money collected can be put in the large envelope that your sample book came home in.  The envelope and any unsold sample books are due back to school by 10/7/2016.  For every 5 books you sell, you get 1 book free.
