About Us

Tring Ringing Group was set up in 1993 and currently has 16 members including five A-permit holders and two trainers.
We catch birds all year using mist nets and the birds are ringed, weighed and measured before release.

Our main sites where we ring regularly are at Wilstone Reservoir. Marsworth Reservoir, Wendover WTW and just outside
Aylesbury at Grebe Lake. Members of the group also ring at a number of other smaller sites and gardens.

Our main activity is weekly mist-netting sessions but we also ring a few hundred nestlings each year mainly tits and swallows
but also herons, owls and terns.

We currently ring around five to six thousand birds a year and run three Constant Effort Sites (see CES ringing page).
