RULES, SCHEDULE AND FIELD MAP – To Be Posted


TOURNAMENT RULES
  • Mouthpieces MUST be worn.  A 2 min. non-releasable penalty will be imposed for players w/out mouthpieces in place

  • Unsportsmanlike (language, etc) are 3 min non-releasable

  • No Body-Checking whatsoever

  • All contact to the head will be called regardless of intent

  • One pass required past midfield unless there is not teammate to advance the ball

  • No "box" or "fiddle" sticks are allowed

  • No 1-hand checks.  1 min. penalty even if no contact is made with player.

  • Slashing will be called if no contact with stick or gloves

  • Minimum of 12 minute running quarters for single games, 10 minute quarters for tournaments

  • Mercy Rule: If a team is winning by 5 or more goals, possession will automatically be given to the trailing team after a goal is scored

BOYS TOURNAMENT RULES

K-2 GRADE

  • Must Play 7 on 7 Offsides are enforced  2-2-2-G

  • Pushing at this level should be used to gain and keep body position, not knock an opposing player to the ground

  • At least two parent/coaches from each team should be on the field at all times

  • Penalties will not be served.  Instead, players will be required to leave the field and a replacement player may join the play

  • Players should use a stick that is comfortable for them

  • Loose ball pushes will be called as needed to keep the game moving along

  • Goalie Interference will be called

  • Maximum recommended field size is 80 x 40 yards- Midfield line with face off wings

  • Maximum recommend goal size is 5 x 5 ft   or 1 foot plywood strip at top


3-4 GRADE
  • Recommendation: Play 7-7 if the conditions allow.  It gives many more touches to each player.  2-2-2-G

  • All pushing must be done w/hands

  • Pushing at this level should be used to gain and keep body position, not knock an opposing player to the ground

  • Penalties will not be served, instead a fast break will be awarded.  The Ball becomes 'LIVE' after the fast break is over

  • The penalized player must leave the field

  • Length of stick cannot be less than 35"  No defense sticks or long poles

  • Offsides and crease violations will be called

  • Goalie Interference will be called

  • Field size should be at least 80 yards if possible- w/ restraining lines if possible

5 -6 GRADE

  • 10 v 10

  • Penalties will be served (either 1,2,3 min.)

  • All pushing must be done with the hands, rather than the stick

  • Length of stick cannot be less than 40 in. or greater than 60 in.

  • Full goalie equipment is required

  • All loose ball pushes will be called

  • Offsides and crease violations will be called

  • Goalies have 4 seconds to get out of their crease after gaining possession

  • Goalie Interference will be called

  • Full Field Size is recommended for 5-6 grade w/all markings


 

GIRL'S TOURNAMENT RULES

2-4 GRADE

  • Teams will play 7v7 including the goalie

  • No checking.  No hands on body

  • Draw to start game and start 2nd half.  Goalie clear after goal.

  • 3 passes after midfield line before a shot can be attempted.  This does not include a goalie clear.  Passes do not have to be completed just possession maintained.  Missed shots require 3 passes before next shot attempt

  • If a team does not have a goalie they will provide a “hector”

  • Coaches are allowed on the field.

  • Safety rules (shooting space, dangerous shot) enforced.  Off sides don’t stop game- call player(s) back.   Crease violations will be enforced.

  • Only 1 ref is required

 

5-7 GRADE:

  • Teams will play 12v12 or 9v9 depending on roster size

  • No checking.  No hands on body

  • Draw to start game and start 2nd half.  Goalie clear after goal.

  • 3 passes after midfield line before a shot can be attempted.   This does not include a goalie clear.  Passes do not have to be completed just possession maintained.  Missed shots require 3 passes before next shot attempted.

  • If a team does not have a goalie they will provide a “hector”

  • Safety rules (shooting space, dangerous shot) enforced.  Off sides don’t stop game- call player(s) back.  Crease violations will be enforced.  Covering will be enforced.

  • 3 Second Defense Shadow Rule- loss of possession

 

NOTE: TOURNAMENT ISSUES: Coaches can call a play stop, tournament director to be brought in to mediate / help ref the remainder of game
