Hosted by the Clubs of the Mill Cities Alliance
The Mill Cities Relay is a great end of the year multiclub invitational 5 leg relay road race event. http://www.millcities.com/. As TriFury, we're not looking to win it, just have some fun and have an excuse to run on the flat streets along the Merrimack River from Nashua to Lawrence on Sunday Dec 7th. And oh yeah, go to the party at the end. The event is put on by the running clubs of the Merrimack Valley as a celebration of team spirit and an end of the season party.
THE COURSE: 27 miles, run in five legs starting in Nashua at the Norman Crisp School and following the scenic Merrimack River through Nashua, Hudson, Tyngsboro, Lowell, Dracut, Methuen and finishing in Lawrence at the Claddagh Pub, 399 Canal St., Lawrence, MA.
LEG LENGTHS: 5.4, 4.75, 2.5, 9.5, and 4.75 Miles.
If you have a group of TriFury friends/training partners that you would like to assemble as a team yourselves that would be great. Or if you would like me to put you on a team, I will be making up several teams. If you've already been recruited by your running club like MVS, GLRR, the Shamrocks, Winners Circle, the Mystics, Gate City, Sommerville Road Runners, Greater Derry, the Wicked Running Club or even the Goon Squad, don't worry, we won't feel bad. In an event like this we understand that your running club probably comes first. But if you're not on a team or not in another club, then we'd love to have you represent TriFury.
Please reply to me if you're interested in running on a TriFury relay team or are putting a TriFury team together yourselves (the entire team must be active 2014 TriFury members. EVERYONE, every TriFury member, every pace is welcome. Send your name, and your typical recent time for a 5K or 5 Miler. If you'd prefer a certain distance leg also say so. Also, if you're willing to be a team captain, please let me know, I NEED a few captains.
If you can't run and want to help out we definitely also have a big need a few people to help me direct runners from 9AM until 11:30 at Griffin Park in Methuen which is TriFury's responsibility with the help of Whirlaway Racing Team. Each club has a particular duty to put on the race, this is ours.
I will make up teams over Thanksgiving weekend and let everyone know who their team captain and teamates are. We will have some competitive teams, and some just-having-fun teams this year. The cost is $15 for each person. If you cancel after we make up the teams, you will still owe the club $15. You should plan on paying your team captain on race day. No need to pay in advance. Other than Try the Tri, this has to be the 2nd best value value in all of sports.
The absolute deadline to sign up with me for a TriFury team is 5PM Wednesday November 26th (the day before Thanksgiving). You do not need to be fast, but you do need to want to have some fun.
Be well, I hope you can join us.

A reminder that there will be no TriFury ride this weekend, instead I'm heading over to the Blazing Saddles Century. I'm planning on doing the 62 mile ride starting at 8AM sharp. Who else is going and what distance are you riding. (50, 62, 100)? We should all try to convene at 7:45AM near the registration table/start line.
The TriFury weekly bike rides begin this Saturday, April 5th. Finally! We will roll at 9:00AM from the Hermann Youth Center Parking Lot at 19 Johnson St in North Andover Mass.
Folks can find more information including the route maps here http://www.trifury.com/training-aids/workout-groups
I plan to send out an update each week on Thursday or Friday to the yahoogroup with the weather forecast and any ride news for the week. I expect that we'll have people there ranging from 15 mph avearge to 21 mph and that some will opt for the 20 mile route and others the 35.
We'd like to see a lot of members there. The more riders, the more fun.
Let me know if you have any questions,
