Boxcar Selfie Tournament-March 2019
March 1-31, 2019
Finals: April 3, 2019
The Boxcar Bar + Arcade
330 W. Davie Street, Raleigh, NC
Once registered, players may use the website to submit "selfies" of their best scores on 5 out of 6 selected machines:
- The Munsters (new machine!)
- Star Wars
- Batman '66
- Game of Thrones
- Dialed In
Selfies may be uploaded at any time during the month of March. Selfies must show the score clearly, but do NOT have to include the player's face. No additional points will be awarded for face shots.
Players will be awarded points for their scoring per machine: 100 points for the best score on a machine, 90 points for 2nd, 85 points for 3rd, 84 for 4th, 83 for 5th, etc. Players will then be ranked based on total number of points they earn for their highest 5 games (Highest possible score: 500) If you don’t submit a score for a particular game, you get 0 points for that game.
Current standings will be updated on the tournament website throughout the month. At the end of the month, the top 16 players (minimum submission of at least 3 qualifying scores) will be invited to play in the March Finals, which will take place on Wednesday, April 3, from 7-10 PM. Participants finishing outside of the Top 16 may show up and compete if there are no-shows from the Top 16.
Finals format: Players will be organized into A and B Divisions (1-8 seeds in A Division, 9-16 in B Division).
Group 1A: 1 vs. 4 vs. 5 vs. 8
Group 2A: 2 vs. 3 vs. 6 vs. 7
Group 1B: 9 vs. 12 vs. 13 vs. 16
Group 2B: 10 vs. 11 vs. 14 vs. 15
Groups will play 3 machines. Highest seed gets machine choice from the 6 qualifying machines (or player order). Scoring is 4/2/1/0. Top 2 finishers from each group advance to the Division finals. Players will retain original seeding in the final round, and highest seed once again chooses machine (or player order).
Prizes will be awarded to the top finishers in each division. This event is sanctioned by the International Flipper Pinball Association, and a $1 entry fee is required to play. Entry fees feed into prize payouts for State and National competitions. Participants will be awarded IFPA points, which determine a player's state, national, and world rankings in pinball.
